Argos Value Range Rubber Bath Mat
Disadvantages: Nothing special to look at
I was lucky enough to be accepted on a local council safety scheme when my daughter was a baby. This meant that someone came and fitted stair gates and cupboard locks, he also left me with a packet of safety corner caps and a bath mat. The bath started to get a little grotty so a couple of months ago I replaced it with this bath mat from the Argos value range.
The bath math is available to buy from Argos, it can be picked up in store or delivered to your home but delivery pumps the cost up quite a bit. This bath mat will only set you back a measly £2.99.
As the bath mat is from the value range I wasn't expecting the best looking bath mat around. It is quite simple, being ivory in colour and having small grooves that run in a diagonal direction all over the mat it definitely isn't anything special. The top of the mat is covered in holes to help water seep through so it doesn't all bung on the top. The reverse has lots of little suction cups, each one around a centimetre in width to keep the bath mat stuck in one place.
The bath mat fits nicely into my average sized bath, I put it just a little shy of the plug and it runs most of the way up the bath with a few inches left at the top of the bath where it isn't covered by any mat. The suction cups work well and once put in the bath, it does move in the slightest which is why I use bath mats so I don't have to worry about my daughter slipping over in the bath. Although the main body of the mat is made of grooves, these aren't uncomfortable to sit or stand on.
The drainage holes in the bath mat are quite good but after the water from the bath has been drained it still leaves a little water on the top of the mat, I usually just wipe it off with a cloth then it's as good as new again. I usually take the bath mat off of the bath once a week and hang it over the shower curtain pole to drain it off a little and keep it fresh.
We've had this bath mat for a few months now and there is no sign of it going mouldy or tatty yet. For this reason I'd definitely recommend this bath mat. Although the colour isn't that great and it doesn't have a nice colourful design, the main safety aspect of the mat is fantastic, it doesn't slip around and stays where it's meant to.
Summary: It works
