“ Brand: Asda / Type: Christmas tree decoration / Size: 80mm / Available in various colours „
I am a sucker for a good sale and the few weeks after Christmas is my favourite time to stock up on items for birthdays throughout the year and the all important Christmas period. In January 2011 I decided that the next Christmas I would change the colour scheme of my tree from red and gold to more girly colours. When I went to my local Asda they had all of their Christmas stock on sale so I picked up some new decorations.
This pack of six baubles was available to purchase in a variety of colours including, red, green and gold, I purchased the purple colour. I can't remember exactly how much I paid as they were on sale but it couldn't have been any more than £1 or I wouldn't have bought them. I seen my local Asda selling them again this year so I imagine they will be on sale again ready for next Christmas.
The packaging is quite flimsy, it's made from transparent plastic but it's very thin and crinkles in easily but it keeps the baubles in one place so you can't really moan. Inside the packaging are six baubles. They are all the same size, 8 centimetres in diameter, these are quite large compared to all of the other baubles I use on my tree. There are three different designs, one design has a shiny effect, one matt and the other glittery. There are two baubles for each different design.
The baubles don't come attached with the string already on so you do have to spend a few minutes attaching the string. I find it really hard knotting the string but that's just because I have butter fingers! The string is gold in colour and the top of the bauble where the string gets attached is also gold. The gold contrasts with the deep purple baubles really well and had I chosen a different colour scheme it would look great on a Christmas tree. However, I had purple, pink and silver as my colour scheme and the little gold attachments didn't look that great when they were hanging up.
The quality of the baubles is fantastic, I've used these two years running and have still put them away ready to be used next year again as there is nothing wrong with them. I find all decorations from Asda seem to have a great quality.
I'd definitely recommend this six pack of baubles, they come in a variety of colours and have a few different designs. Although the strings don't come already attached, there aren't many baubles that do these days and if you haven't got butter fingers they are easy to do. They last really well for the price they cost.
We have had our Christmas tree and decorations for a couple of years now but this year when I got everything out of the loft and decorated the tree I found some of the decorations were a bit battered so decided to buy a few more basic ones to pad the tree out a bit.
I always shop at Asda as that's where my Grandma who I take shopping likes to go so I had a look at their range whilst doing the weekly shop and found these ones. There was a decent range of colours when I bought these, red, green, purple, silver and gold are the ones I can remember and they cost me £2 for a box of 6.
The box which holds the baubles is made of see through plastic so you can see what's inside and simply had a sticker on the front stating the Asda brand and the product name. Inside the box there were 2 matt baubles, 2 glittery baubles and 2 shiny baubles so you get a good mix in one box.
The baubles are 80mm in diameters so are a decent size and they are rounded as you would expect for a simple bauble with a silver bit on top for you to thread the silver thread through which is also provided and then you simply need to tie a little knot and the baubles are ready to go on the tree.
The baubles hang on the tree easily and the hanging loop is big enough to go over the fibre optic stars on our tree which is great as I have found some loops are too tight to go over. The baubles look pretty especially the glittery ones when the lights from the tree shine against them.
The only drawback from these baubles is that there is some glitter loss from the glittery 2 but after I gave them a rub off this stopped so the bauble was still mostly intact. These baubles are great value and must have sold well as I haven't seen any of these in the stores sale.
Decorating a tree from scratch can be a daunting task. I was left with a tree put up that was rather large but empty....until I went to Asda that is anyway!
Asda carries alot of Christmas tree decorations and at the beginning I just wanted things that were plain, simple and simply decorated vast areas before moving onto slightly more fancy tree decorations for effect.
I opted for a pack of 6 80mm silver baubles (lots of other colours are available by the way) and they came in a clear plastic box and the only information given on them was what they were and who they were by and contact details for Asda were given.
Open up the box you get 6 rather large baubles, like I say in my option I went for silver. Round in shape you get three different finishes. 2 are shiny and metalic, 2 are like a soft sheen matt and the other 2 very glittery and all have a silver thread in the box to pop through the hoop that is at the top of each bauble.
Easy to thread, you simply tie a knot in each...which is very simple really to do as the hoops and threads are big enough and then you get hanging them.
The shiny baubles and the sheen ones are just that. The glittery ones when handled tend to shed a fair amount of glitter but I didn't damage them by handling them at all and once on the tree they haven't flaked or anything like that.
These are shatterproof baubles so I assume that they are plastic so although they can't be smashed and hurt anyone they can dent however mine dangle on my tree, untouched beautifully and I think that they are a terrific buy at £2.00 a box!
Only available in Asda stores.
