“ Brand Asda / Type: Disposable tumblers „
We've definitely been taking advantage of hot sunny weather and have been spending a lot of time outside and having quite a few friends over for barbecues and playmates etc. Whenever we eat outside I always like to use disposable plastic cutlery, plates and cups as I think people are a lot more casual when they are eating outside and don't always take care of stuff like that and also it just makes more sense when you have people round to have disposable items because cleaning up afterwards is always quick and easy, you just need a bin bag to throw everything in!
I headed to Asda, well actually ordered them online as we do our online shopping at Asda but I found some great cups on the website for use outside. The cups are clear plastic tumblers and I find that tumblers work well for any soft drinks that you serve at a party but you cannot use them for hot drinks as the plastic will not take hot liquids.
The tumblers come in a pack of 20 and when you order them they are all wrapped up together, stacked one in the other so I actually ordered quite a few packs and have been able to store them in my cupboard all packed up still, ready for when I need them.
These tumblers do not have any handles so you just hold onto them around themselves. Like I've said above the tumblers are made of quite a thin plastic so you do have to be quite careful when using these as if you squeeze them they will bend inwards and if your drink is too full it can cause it to spill. This has happened to me on numerous occasions so now I know to not fill them up completely. At the top of the cup is a little rim around the top. This is bent over so it makes the cup quite smooth on your lips. Around the cup there are actually cirlces of indentations in the plastic which makes it quite easy to grip hold of and easier than just a plain plastic cup.
These tumblers come in different sizes. I bought a few packs of the 50Cl cups as I thought these would work better than the 33cl cups. The 33cl cups in my opinion were too small even if people wanted to refill their cups all the time. A pack of 20 50cl cups costs £1.50 from Asda which I think is very cheap. I bought about 4 packs I think in the end as the price was so good, it wasn't worth struggling by on a few cups at the party and having to wash them etc. The great thing about these cups is that after you have used them you can simply throw them away. Ok, its not the best situation for the environment but we do have some left over which I have stored and will use for my next barbecue.
All in all a great cheap and practical way to serve drinks outside or at a party.
When I knew I was moving and getting people to help me move a flat full of stuff (and believe me I am a hoarder of massive proportions!) I got in some disposable plates and things like that so I wouldn't have to keep washing up and the likes. I bought a pack of these tumblers that cost me only £1.50 for 20 large ones which I thought was really good value for money and of course although they are disposable providing you look after them you can rinse them out and use them again and again should you want to.
They came stacked in line within hard see through plastic and on that we are clearly told what they are and who they are made by and that there are 20 of them and contact details for Asda are given. The packaging does need a nick with knife to remove it or cutting off with a pair of scissors but its simple enough to remove really.
Strong, plastic and see-through these are very plain to look at and are of good size not being tiny but falling short of being a pint size. They are robust though I wouldn't put a hot drink in them but they are fine with cool/cold drinks and ice if you want to pop some in it too.
They wash up well and my tumblers are still in great condition with no bad scratches or breaks in them after being washed and used often.
These are great for a range of purposes from buffets to parties to the way that I needed them and yep they get a thumbs up from me though they are a little on the large side for me and my needs!
Only available from Asda stores.

Asda Large plastic tumblers
When we first moved into our new home we decided to have a bit of a house warming party, but moving from a small one bedroom flat to a house with some space and finally with some decent kitchen storage meant that we didn't have all that much furnishings or kitchen items, which has since drastically changed. We decided that instead of buying a lot of glassware that we wouldn't really need we opted to buy a few large plastic tumblers from Asda.
Initially I was completely put off the prospect of buying any plastic cups because I hate those little white small ones that you get from some coffee machines, the ones that look like they are made more for small children's hands than adults. However, after stumbling across these large plastic tumblers from Asda I changed my mind. The tumblers are made from clear plastic and hold a decent amount of liquid even when you included a good amount of ice. The tumblers are also quite robust and we ended up washing out and reusing the cups when people changed drinks. The plastic tumblers were also easy to hold as they retained their shape well and really were an all around nice tumbler to drink out of, which in my experience is certainly not the case with all plastic cups. In fact I would buy and happily use the Asda large tumblers again in the future.
Not only are the Asda large tumblers quite a good product but they also have a very decent price tag, with Asda currently selling a pack of 20 tumblers for only £1.50. Making them, in my opinion an ideal purchase for any parties and just as a side note the glasses looked really good filled with a Pimms and lemonade cocktail.
I don't think that the Asda large tumblers deserve anything less than a full five out of five stars and although they aren't an everyday item for a party or special occasion or when you don't want glassware to be used they are a perfect substitute. I would definitely buy these again when the occasion arises and I would highly recommend them if you are looking for something similar.
To sum, the large tumblers are a no fuss and simple design that serves its purpose well. They are well made and will hold their shape well enough to making drinking from them not that much different than a real glass. Overall they are a reliable and good item from Asda.
I bought these for my granddaughters birthday party. I didn't want for any cups to get broken or for there to be extra washing up at the end of it so I bought these.
They are slightly larger than usual plastic cups which I thought was a good idea as with children I don't like filling their cups up too high as they tend to splash them out of the top if they don't be careful! Also it meant when adults had a drink it wasn't quite as 'child like' so they were ideal.
They are made from plastic so can be re-used but we bought them just to be thrown away after the party. They are quite robust actually which surprised me, often plastic cups can be really flimsy and break easily but these seem to be a better quality than others.
I was pleased with these, I think that they are good quality. I got 10 in a pack so had to buy two packs and I definitely will be buying them again as they really surprised me by how good quality they are.
The only down side is that the lip of the cup is a little large and I found this a bit irritating when drinking from but nobody else seemed to say anything.
I don't really like drinking out of plastic cups but for a children's party they are fine and these definitely are better than cardboard ones that seem to go all soggy and are very easily broken.
So if you're having a party and wanting cheap, disposible cups then these are really good and they can be reused if need be too as they are good quality.
Last year we had our daughter christened and we went back to a social club afterwards, the people were really nice and I asked that we were able to bring in plastic cups for the children to drink from rather than chancing any accidents which they were happy to let us do.
I bought these from Asda and the pack held 20 tumblers which was plenty to cover all the children going to the christening, the tumblers cost £1.50 so didn't cost too much.
The cups came wrapped in a plastic wrapper which simply needs ripping or cutting to open, on the front of the packet was a simple black sticker just stating Asda, the name of the product and the fact that the packet held 20 tumblers.
The cups were a bit stiff to pull apart but we did manage it without breaking any, the cups are see through and thicker than normal plastic cups although not thick enough for hot drinks. The tumblers are washable and we have ended up keeping some of them from the day which I use to give my daughter drinks when she goes outside as she usually forgets to bring her drink back in the house and her character sports cups get ruined.
These tumblers are strong and a good price they served the purpose I needed them for and we will use them for drinks at barbeques I plan on having this year weather permitting of course.
