Smart price refuse bags

I try and get bargains where I can, however sometimes this back fires, and unfortunately this was one of those times. I have recently decorated my two boy's bedrooms and of course before decorating come the inevitable clear out of old broken toys and games. I obviously needed black bags and was in need of another bargain. I found these in Asda for £1.09 for 45 bags, this equates to 2.4p each. They are the cheap Asda "no frills" refuse bags and have the green and white labelling that is the Asda smart price scheme. This seemed like a great bargain so into the trolley they went.

Well I was disappointed. These would be perfect for soft light refuse but for heavier rougher rubbish these aren't so good. Rubbish gets heavy quick. The bags were very thin and tore very easily, even if you managed to get the rubbish into the bag without it tearing then when you lift it, it tears anyway. There are no handles which is a draw back and it also means you can't fill it as well because you need to allow space to tie up the bag.

Although these bags were not ideal for me and the purpose I required them for. I do think that for lighter use or maybe for lining a bin these maybe useful but I would not purchase them for heavier uses. Even though these didn't get used for what I needed they did get used, my son has been using them as a protective cover for painting, although if you choose to use them for this you need to supervise the children for obvious safety issues. However once these have finished I don't think I'll be partaking in this particular bargain again.

All the bags are joined together with perforated strip and you can rip off one bag at a time with ease. They are rolled up and therefore easy to store. The bags do prove a little tricky to actually open, but that could be just me.

Overall these bags are not for me and I was very disappointed with the quality. They are just simply too thin and easily torn to be of any practical use to me. I would not recommend them which is a shame because I usually find smart price products to be of very good value.
