Loot bags or 'party bags' as I prefer to call them come in all kinds of styles. When my children were younger you just seemed to get a few types but now there's a party bag for all occasions!
My granddaughter adores anything girlie and so Barbie is one of her favourites! We bought Barbie party bags from Amazon for her birthday party. Although the children loved them, I have to say they were quite poor quality and did disappoint me.
The bags are bright, with a picture of Barbie on the front and lots of pink, hearts and little girlie things on so any little girl would love them. There is a little handle at the top just right for little hands to hold.
The bag doesn't hold very much so it's fine for putting in a few token items but I found it began to strain a little with just a piece of cake in it! They are not very strong nor are they very thick so it can easily be torn.
What realy disappointed me was that when my granddaughter had held hers for a few minutes the colour of the bag began to rub off on her hands. The warmth from her hands made the colour come away and her hands ended up bright pink and the bag was all white! This is really poor and not what you would expect at all.
I don't like the way these bags lack quality. I know they tend to be used for a short time and then thrown away but even so I would like to have a party bag that is decent and not disappointing like this.
In future I'd like to buy party bags that I can see first so I can check their quality. Although little girls wil llike these I wasn't very happy.
** Barbie Loot Bags **
These Loot bags or 'goody / doggy bags as I used to remember them) are Barbie branded little plastic bags. Perfect for parties and get-togethers, I bought these for my nieces' last birthday party. She was 5 and Barbie is pretty much her idol right now.
She only had a little party this year, with about 5 girls and 3 boys. We aimed to make the party food as healthy as possible and we decided to make the party food with exciting fruit and some little sandwiches. But we did decide that we would give each child a goody bag to take home with a little bit of birthday cake, a couple of toys and sweets. This way, they wouldn't run around hyper in the hall and the parents would manage to take them home, plus it means the parents can judge how much sweets each child is allowed to have.
The Barbie loot bags we had are a different design to the ones in the picture. They come in a pack of 6. The ones we had were the same size (Approximately 23cm (9 Inch) high, 16cm (6.5 Inch) wide) and were made of this plastic with a cute little handle at the top.
The design we had was bright pink and a picture of Barbie herself on the front with speech bubbles saying Fab and Love. She also had a cupcake in her hand which gave it a party image. Both sides of the bag have the same print so they are very bright, pretty and very girly. Just to note, we gave the boys at the party Ben 10 bags so they didn't feel left out.
** Price & Availability **
I paid £1 for these and got them from my local pound land, I thought that was great value. I have looked online and found them for £1.79 from Amazon put the post and packaging has to be added on. They seem to average for about £2.79 on most party websites so my advice is to have a look in your local pound land or £1 shops to see what loot bags they have available. I think anything more than £1 is expensive for these loot bags. You only get 6 and they are just for one day.
** What The Girls Thought **
I love getting the parties bags together with my nice. I find it so exciting getting ready and she helped decide what went in them. The loot bags are big enough to get plenty of treats in and to a 4 year old the bags look huge!
My niece and I decided that we would but a bit of birthday cake in once it had been cut. Some stickers (again from Pound Land), a little pot of bubbles, a few sweets such as lolly pops, chewy sweets etc. (we bought a couple of big bags and then split them). We also put in different types of pens with little fluffy things on the top, bracelets, little notebook and other little items. My niece decided who got what and we wrote the names on the bags ready for her to give out at the party.
When we gave out the bags, because of the thin plastic they looked bulging, so the bags looked really full up and the girls were excited. We gave them the bags as they left with their parent and it is always lovely to see their eyes brighten up when they realise they are getting a goody bag! Some of my nieces' friends are really shy so their parent took it for them, the others were all to ready to dig in and see what they got, showing each other the pens and bracelets. I could see my niece felt quite proud giving out her little bags and she forgot for a few minutes that it was actually her birthday party!
In my opinion the bags went down a treat. They were bright and strong, easy to carry and perfect for a little girls party. I love loot bags and I think it is always fun filling up your own rather than getting the ready-made ones.
Barbie (*cough cough* - Aunty Hollie) wins again!
