Berol Dry Wipe Pen Broad Tip
Advantages: Ink is good, easy to wipe off and good value when bought in boxes of 12
Disadvantages: Felt material on the tip is a little weak compared to the Zebra brand pens.
I've got a whiteboard week planner in the office so I keep a pack of pens next to it in case one runs out (nothing like being on the phone and your pen doesn't work) so rather than buy these individually I got a big 12 pack off Amazon for £5 + £1.55 postage. Bargain!
I want to get the negative out the way here, the felt lacks structural integrity, the felt is just too weak to be used constantly and if you're heavy handed these are not for you. The tip really feels flimsy and there's no solid felt at all, it can be crushed easily if you press hard whereas, the Zebra whiteboard pens i've tried are rock solid and feel better made.
Moving on to some more positive points though, the pens do last quite a long time, for me it's a good few months before they run out, and when they do sadly they cant be refilled like highlighters, they have to be binned. They are also not recyclable but the packaging is. Cardboard is widely recycled.
The ink isn't bad actually, occasionally blotchy and patchy here and there but generally it flows out the pen quite well. When you first start using the pen you'll see a solid black line and as the pen runs out it'll loose ink around the edge of the tip and so lines look less full, and there's less in at the top and bottom of your line.
Writing is quite comfortable, being perfectly circular grip is few and far between when writing with sweaty hands but you can just "wipe dry" if you'll pardon the pun. The logo on the pens does wear off after time but you normally run out of ink faster than the logo can completely disappear.
When it comes to wiping the ink off the board this is easy and it doesn't leave any dried on patches behind. It takes seconds to "dry" onto the board but after that it won't smudge. I've got the berol board wiper that was designed for this exact purpose and it works well together with this pen.
Overall this is a great pen but expensive when bought individually so i'd recommend getting a 12 pack off amazon for a fiver, and certainly stock up if you see them on offer. These are great for leaving around the office and work on all white boards. Highly recommended.
Summary: Highly recommended for any whiteboard.
