** INTRODUCTION TO MY WEDDING DECOR **
It is just over a year since I got married to my husband, and whilst our wedding ceremony took place in USA, we wanted a sort of 'Wedding Reception' at home in the UK for our friends and family members to help us celebrate our nuptials. Because our wedding was taking place in two parts as it were, and because I had my heart set on a fabulous designer wedding cake to take pride of place at our reception party, I had some fairly tight budget constraints when it came to some of the more 'minor' aspects of our wedding reception. One of these was in terms of the decorations I purchased to decorate the function suite we had hired to hold our reception party in.
Whilst I splashed out a little with several displays of helium balloons and the like, smaller details such as banners and decorative foil table confetti were items that I was more than happy to 'scrimp' a little on, with the hope that my overall decorating budget would sit comfortably amongst my other wedding expenditure.
With this in mind, I was delighted to note that a local branch of Poundland stocked a small range of wedding decorations and accessories. Ranging from silver-foiled paper plates to little cardboard boxes to hold and distribute wedding cake, I thought the overall range was fairly impressive but not necessarily suited to my own personal requirements. There was one exception to this however, and I was delighted to note that the range included some packages of decorative foil wedding confetti.
** ITEM DETAILS **
From the 'Bliss Wedding Collection', the "Foil Confetti" consists of eight small individual bags of assorted foil confetti shapes, with each design being in its own bag. Each bag of each 'shaped' confetti is stuck onto an oblong cardboard backing, which is fairly plain-looking and slightly basic.
The confetti shapes only consist of three colours which are gold foil, silver foil and white. The majority of the foil shapes are silver and gold coloured, and only one shape is available in the white which is two bags of little white doves. The white colour is slightly pearlescent, so that it is quite reflective in certain light. I found that these little doves were the perfect addition to my wedding cake table as they are quite simplistic and neat in their design, and therefore didn't take anything away from the design of the wedding cake itself.
The silver and gold foil coloured confetti are very shiny and quite reflective, and each have three shapes in the assortment. In the silver foil, the choices are little silver bells, silver 'bride and groom' shapes and some silver foil 'Just Married' wording. The 'bride and groom' shapes were slightly clunky-looking for my personal tastes and were unused in my wedding decorations. The silver bells are quite neat in their size, measuring less than 1cm length. I chose to scatter these on the bar in my reception venue. The 'Just Married' wording confetti is slightly bigger, measuring just under 3cm in length, although I didn't find it was overly big or cumbersome in its' appearance. These were mixed with some of the other gold and silver foil shapes and scattered on each of the circular tables in my reception venue.
In respect of the gold foil shapes, the choices are again, 'Just Married' wording confetti, gold champagne glasses which are quite delicate-looking in my opinion, measuring just under 1.5cm in length. I chose to mix these with the silver bells and scattered them across the bar in my wedding venue. The last shape choice in the Bliss Collection is an assortment of gold foil 'love heart' shapes in various sizes and designs, which I chose to mix with the 'Just Married' wording (in both gold and silver) and scatter on the guests' tables.
** MY OPINION **
I thought that the Bliss Wedding Collection Foil Confetti was a fantastic product overall. It is true that one of the shape choices wasn't to my own personal tastes and was discarded altogether by me, but as there were seven remaining bags of assorted shapes for me to choose from, I didn't feel let down by the cheap-looking 'clunky' design of the shapes I had discarded.
The other shapes that were actually used by me are, in my opinion, made of a very good quality material. Certainly, I had no issues with any of the foil confetti shapes being torn or ripped when I opened the packages. There were one or two little 'broken' pieces lurking around in the bottom of some of the packages but I think this is something that is often evident with any type of foil confetti and is certainly something I have experienced with alternative brands, so I won't be deducting any marks from the product rating for this.
I thought that the overall look from using the confetti was impressive, and I felt that there was no way that any of my guests would have known that the decorative foil confetti was so cheap and it certainly didn't look cheap and nasty. Quite the opposite was true, and I felt that the confetti really added to my decorations and table displays perfectly. In particular, I thought that the small white doves were extremely pretty and attractive-looking and are what attracted me to the pack of Bliss Foil Confetti initially, such is their pretty and delicate design.
I actually bought eight of these packs of foil confetti as I was unsure how much I would need to decorate my tables and reception suite, and was concerned about running out. I ended up with two remaining packs left over, which were completely untouched. As my reception venue had a very large bar to one end of the suite and I had ten quite large circular tables for my guests to sit at, this will hopefully give you an idea of the quantities of foil wedding confetti contained in the pack.
Compared to other, similar decorative foil wedding confetti that I have purchased previously (sent out with my 'Save the Date' cards as well as my wedding invitations for decorative effect) the Bliss Wedding Collection assortment really offers brilliant value for money. If you consider that a small bag (amounting to perhaps three of the small packets from the Bliss collection) of angle-shaped gold 'love heart' design confetti cost me around £5, you can begin to understand the budget required for decorative items such as these.
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the Bliss Wedding Collection Foil Confetti selection and have recommended it to other 'brides-to-be' that I know, as well as on wedding forums. There is little or no difference between the big 'high-end' brands of decorative foil confetti and this cheaper solution as far as I can tell, and I think it offers a great 'budget' solution to wedding decorations.
I have seen a small range of items from the Bliss Wedding Collection - including the foil confetti selection I am reviewing here - available in larger branches of Poundland. I have also noticed items from the range for sale on eBay.
