Advantages: Longer match = further reach
Disadvantages: Bit pricey compared to other sources of fire
This is a review of Bryant & May extra long matches which I buy mainly to light candles. I've got a lovely autumnal spiced candle on the go at the moment but we are getting to the bottom of the jar so it needs lots of reach!
Candle burning
I tend to have those large candles in a jar and once they burn down they are difficult to reach with your regular length matches. Bryant & May make Extra Long Matches and you get around 45 in a box for around 75 pence. I buy mine from the supermarket but you can probably pick them up a little cheaper from other home ware shops.
Safety match
The side panel is 'safety match' style ie. not sandpaper and lighting the match is smooth and efficient. I have been through a few boxes of these matches and never had one fail or break on me yet.
Size is important
The length of the matches is their special feature so this detail is important in this review. Each match measures 10 cm long and you get around 10 seconds burn time if you were to let each match burn right down.
Multiple uses
Another useful thing about these matches is if you were lighting several matches at a time say on a birthday cake. You would get the job done quicker and safer.
Packaging
The packaging on my box is delightful. Named the 'winter collection; there is a snow scene on the side of the box that is lovely to look at.
Value for money
I realise there are cheaper matches out there and lighters are also cheaper but I do feel these look nice in their box and I don't mind them being on view due to the picture.
Final word
Ultimately if you don't smoke and are a little nervous around fire and matches, then these are for you! The length of the stick gives plenty of room to hold, you get a decent amount of burn time and they are good quality. It goes without saying that you need to keep the box away from children and also these matches have the Queen's crest on them so they are supplied to royalty too!
Summary: Nice matches if you can get excited about this sort of thing!
