      A well made valance

~Top to toe Christy Charlton~ ********************** The Christy Charlton Fitted Valance may not quite be the crowing glory of the beautiful Christy Charlton bedding range, as very often it gets rather over looked as the spectacular duvet cover and pillows do seem to take centre stage. Even so I feel that in order to create a fully fitted top to toe stylishly coordinated look the set does need to be set off to perfection by a matching Christy Charlton Fitted Valance. The valance when fitted to the base of the bed, sits in place on the bottom of the bed base (in the case of a divan bed) with the mattress placed on top. I find that a nicely coordinated fitted cotton sheet on the mattress along with the duvet and pillows from the same range give off a neatly finished look. The colour of the material used to make up the Christy Charlton Fitted Valance is an oyster toned blend of chic heavy damask style material which sits around the edges of the divan base, with a 100% cotton material making up the rest of the valance. The Christy Charlton Fitted Valance is more of an oyster shade than a cream one and it has a very nice pale shimmery iridescent look to some parts of the jacquard material which matches the damask design of the rest of the items in the range. I have found that the colours in the Christy Charlton Fitted Valance do seem to change a little as the light in the room increases or decreases as the oyster tone can some times end up looking more like a pale soft beige. ~Care, fitting, ease of use~ ********************** The Christy Charlton Fitted Valance looks very nice when it is fitted in place although I have found it is not an easy one person job to fit, as you do need to take off the mattress to get access to the base in order to fit the valance. Once in place with the middle part of the valance smoothed over and the sides of the valance set nice and neatly around the divan base the mattress can be put back as it was. With a fresh fitted sheet in a complimentary colour on the mattress, the Christy Charlton Fitted Valance sets off the whole look really well and whilst it may look like a high maintenance item it is easy to wash and clean when needed. I feel that the main downside to having a fitted valance such as this one is that you will need help taking the valance on and off the divan base every time you want to change it over. Other than that the Christy Charlton Fitted Valance is easy to care for and washes well in a normal washing machine. I have tumbled my Christy Charlton Fitted Valance in the dryer and it has come out well with no shrinking at all and I find that all it needs in order to look as good as new is a light iron. You can line dry the Christy Charlton Fitted Valance if you want to, although I find I prefer to use the dryer as it cuts down on the amount of time spent on it with an iron. With the Christy Charlton Fitted Valance being a good quality product I have found that washing, drying and using the valance has not made it look worn or faded and I am more than happy with how well the valance has lasted. I feel that this is mostly down to the fact that the materials used to make up the Christy Charlton Fitted Valance are long lasting and well put together. The Christy Charlton Fitted Valance is made with a gorgeous damask style panelled section that sits around 3 sides of the divan, with an easy to care for 100% cotton base that sits on the base of the divan. The side damask panels are made from a mix of 55% polyester and 45% cotton, with the centre or base of the Christy Charlton Fitted Valance being made from a 200 count 100% cotton based material. ~Price and rating~ ************** To give an idea of the prices you can expect to pay for a valance from the Christy Charlton range, the king sized valance for instance would be priced at around £85 at full price. There are other sizes to match the duvet covers from the range such as a single valance and a double valance and these should be sized to fit a normal divan base type bed. Whilst the cost of the valance at full price does seem rather high, there have been discounts on this range at times and I have seen the single valance on sale for as little as £27.50, with the double one priced at £32.50. As for rating the Christy Charlton Fitted Valance I feel that as the valance not only looks good when in place (setting off the whole look of the bed set if you have it) it also washes well and is easy to dry and iron when needed. Prices for the Christy Charlton Fitted Valance are rather high at full price however at the lower end of the price scale I feel it is worth spending out on the product as it does give a nicely coordinated look to your room scheme. With all this in mind my rating for the Christy Charlton Fitted Valance is 4 stars.
