“ Brand: Dunelm / Type: Vase „
I love ornaments and points of interest in my house, for my birthday I asked for some new, modern vases as I only had some rather old ones and wanted something more modern. My daughter bought me a pair of these and they are just lovely.
When I first saw them I thought they were a little too modern for me but now I really like them, they have grown on me so much.
It is an oval shape, wider in the middle and it narrows towards the top. It is rather tall, about 60cm high so it looks very elegant and sophisticated. It definitely does make a statement I think. I have them either side of my fireplace on the harth and it goes well against the white marble.
It is only a small opening so no big bunch of flowers will fit in here which I think I found strange at first but now I realise it's all bout being modern so just a few Gerbras look lovely in here or a red rose or two and it's very effective, the whole less is more thing!
I was a little concerned that it would be unsteady with it being quite narrow but tall but the base of it is wider than the top part so it's actually more steady than I had been anticipating which is good seeing as we have grandchildren and a dog!
I think these make a lovely set ,or on their own if you just have the one. I like that it's very simple but with just a flower or two in it it makes a nice statement.
The only criticism is that I find they are quite hard to clean out with being narrow. I use a bottle brush but do struggle t oget right to the bottom.
I love to change the look of my home with accessories and recently decided my stairs needed a bit of a spruce up, we have winding stairs in our house with 2 landings, with the house being open plan one of the landings is visible from the lounge, until recently I had a nice tall lamp on there but after moving this into the lounge it was left looking a bit bare. After looking around a recently opened Dunelm Mill I spotted a lovely tall black vase that would fit the space perfectly.
The ice stripy oval vase is approximately 58 cm's tall, it is round and tapers in slightly towards the top, the vase has textured grey stripes going around it but it was the shape that first drew me to it, it always reminds me of a bullet shape and I thought it was quite unusual.
The top of the vase is just 5 cm's wide so only suitable for a few stems if you are using it for flowers. Personally I have 3 large black silk flowers, also from Dunelm Mill, in mine and this is just enough. Despite the vase being tall and quite thin it feels stable when standing on the carpet although you could always weigh it down by placing a few pebbles in the bottom of it.
The vase is made from a clay type substance so therefore breakable.
I don't know if this is available in any other colour choices or not, when I bought mine this was the only one colour in the shop. I paid £12.99 for the ice stripy oval vase which in my personal opinion was reasonable.
If you are looking for a vase I would certainly recommend taking a look at this one, its tall and elegant and certainly makes a statement in the corner of my landing. The vase is well made and nicely finished around the edges. It didn't come with any special packaging but the assistant did wrap it well in tissue for me.
It would look nice with lights or something sparkly in it too, especially this time of year.
I've been really pleased with my vase, its given my stairs a nice new look for a reasonable amount of money.
