Dunelm Mill Teddy Bear Throw
Advantages: Warm, soft and cuddly, great as blankets
Our local Dunelm hasn't been there for very long, but we have made multiple trips to it and have adorned our house with various products from it. One such product is this Teddy Bear throw, designed as a throw but ultimately the best blanket we've ever had and used.
We live in a house with big Victorian sash windows. At the moment, we have serious issues with the cold weather and trying to keep the house warm, and are seriously considering double glazing. However, until then we need a way of keeping nice and warm. Previously, we have used IKEA blankets which are quite good at always feeling warm, but these are just the best!
The throws are light and fluffy, and I guess it's their texture which gives them their name. There is no Teddy Bear insignia on them or anything like that. The blanket has a slightly thicker edge to it, where the material seems to have been doubled and then stitched. The corners are similarly well folded over, and are gentle. Many blankets have more rigid corners but not this one.
We find that the blankets have this beautiful softness to them, whereby in decent weather they're just really comfy, and in cold weather they are the best thing to snuggle up to. We have other blankets and of course our beds all have duvets on them, but in cold weather these are affected and actually get cold themselves. Dunelm's Teddy Bear throws maintain an ambient temperature and if you need warming up there's nothing better than snuggling up in one of these. Cold doesn't seem to permeate it and it keeps warmth in. This is a winner for me.
It's also very comfy and well sized. There are two different sizes that these come in, and this is ideal for me. I'm quite tall and broad, and my feet feel the cold more than other parts of me. The smaller of these blankets is perfect for my wife and boys, but just too small for me. The smaller ones are 127cm by 178cm, slightly too small for me, while the large one, 220cm by 220cm, is absolutely perfect and I'm able to lose myself completely. It's like having an easy to manoeuvre lightweight permanently warm duvet. It doesn't do the same as a duvet would once it has warmed up, but it does give you that instant warmth and maintains it throughout.
We've opted for brown with these, the same or near as dammit as the blanket from IKEA that we have. However, there are plenty of different colours here, and my wife has her sights set on a turquoise one. You could get a white one, green, cream, black, there are quite a few different shades and colours. Pricewise you're looking at £10 for a small, £20 for a large, not the cheapest blankets but very good value when you consider what you're actually getting.
The throws wash very easily, and come out virtually dry. They maintain their softness and volume and withstand a lot of use. If you're after something to while away the last vestiges of a cold winter, get yourself down to Dunelm and pick yourself one of these. They're well worth it.
Summary: Great throws that make excellent blankets
