      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Having researched this item at many sites online I can 100% say that this device will make so little difference in a DOMESTIC situation that it is NOT worth purchasing.I have no axe to grind with the suppliers or manufacturers, I am genuinely looking for ways of cutting costs at home. The idea behind the technology is sound but only when using commercial equipment (which normally runs on 3 phase anyway). My advice: Save your money buy NOT buying this.

a money saving product that actually works

Ecotek energy wizard - saves me 10% on my electricity by Magic.

I am very conscious that energy prices are constantly on the rise and my usage is higher than for some people as I am at home all day. I saw this product advertised on an email from Gizoo, and I thought it was worth purchasing to see if it made a difference.

I am still not sure entirely how this product works even though I have read all the information myself, but we have used the product alongside an OWL energy monitor and noticed a reduction of about 10% in the cost of the electricity we are using, so that substantiates claims made about it, so we will be using it.

It doesn't look much. It is basically a plug. It doesn't even look stylish. It has 3 pins, and plugs into any empty socket in your house. It has a half circle shaped bit of plastic, and has a little green LED to show you it is on. It has a little label on it to say it is the energy wizard. After that, it is ignored. I plugged it in behind a lamp table so you can't even see it.

The product claims to save up to £60 per year in cost based on an average bill as per the Department of Energy and Climate change and electricity pricing EST UK. It says it works by "using a combination of filtration and correction techniques to improve the efficiency of various appliances and circuits. In addition, the intelligent technology optimises the voltage and current demands thus reducing the active power/kWh demands and achieves up to 10% savings on your electricity bill."

Now I am not a dummy, I used to be a science teacher in my previous life before becoming a mummy, but I still don't get it. My interpretation is that some appliances are not that efficient and waste energy when they operate. That I get. This product helps these appliances use the energy more efficiently so they don't need as much. Between 5-15% less depending on what gadget it is. What I don't get is how this alters it when it is not attached to the appliance in question?

However, I have seen from the OWL that it is saving me money, so that is good enough for me. This cost me £22 from Gizoo. It will take a few months to recoup this cost from the energy we are using. Some appliances like the telly and the hifi are going to save more money than other appliances that are less demanding, but I think this is a product that does what it says on the tin. And does it matter if I can't work out how? Not really.
