Advantages: smells lovely, eliminates odours
Disadvantages: none for me
I have said before in reviews that I always get paranoid about cooking smells in my home. I live in a one bedroom flat, so anything I have been cooking with a strong smell lingers in the air for ages. I regularly use plug-in air fresheners, but as the adverts say, they only mask the smell rather than eliminate it. I decided it was about time I bought an odour-eliminating spray, and chose Febreze Mist and Refresh, as I use Febreze fabric spray regularly and trust the brand. I have now been using this product for around two years, and it is one of the few cleaning/household products that I have stuck to.
~About the product~
This product cleaims to eliminate everyday odours without just masking them, and leaves a light, subtle scent behind - unlike normal Febreze it can only be used in the air - not on fabrics. There are four different scents in the range - Spring, Cotton Fresh, Morning Dew and Blossom and Breeze. I bought the cotton fresh scent as I thought it sounded like the lightest one, and I didn't want a strong scent in the air, clashing with my plug-in air freshener.
The product comes in an aerosol bottle, which has an unusual plastic top with a trigger spray (as you can see from the picture). The bottle fits comfortably into your hand, and the trigger spray is easy to use, with only minimal effort required.
To use the product you simply spray into the air, whenever you feel that it is required. As soon as you pull the trigger spray it releases a gentle mist into the air. You can smell the subtle scent of the product in the air straight away and this lingers for some time. My mother actually bought this product and found that it 'got on her chest' and made her cough so she gave me her bottle. I personally have never found this problem myself, but my mother has been a smoker for about 40 years, so her lungs are no doubt not great and it might be something to bear in mind if you have chest problems.
The cotton scent is lovely, it's very fresh and clean, and reminds me slightly of the scent of the clean cotton yankee candles. It's a really soft, simple and inoffensive fragrance, and isn't overpowering at all.
~Does it work?~
I think it does, yes. Now every time I have been cooking I spray this in the air and so far it has got rid of any strong lingering smells, I haven't found any smell too strong for it to get rid of. The cotton scent stays in the air for some time, but after a while you stop noticing it, as it's so subtle.
This costs £2.48 for a 300ml bottle from Wilkinsons, but you can get it from most major supermarkets. I use mine a few times a week and a bottle lasts a really long time, as you only need a small spray at a time, therefore it's quite economical.
In fairness, this is the first odour-eliminating spray that I have tried, so I don't have any others to compare it to, but I am very impressed with it, and think it's excellent. I would definitely recommend trying it, as it is much more effective than any air freshener I have used, it's good value for money, and gets rid of even the strongest smells. The fact I have continually bought it for the past two years is a big compliment really, because I chop and change between products all the time.
Summary: Lovely product
