A gorgeous item from the Garden Bunny range which set my party table off a treat.

When buying the tableware for my Easter party I was quite certain about the kind of plates I wanted, I looked high and low in the shops for a colourful design which featured a realistic looking rabbit rather than a cartoon Easter Bunny. I couldn't find anything I liked and was almost resigned to using the leftover plates from Christmas when I came across partybox.co.uk and on there found the perfect plates in the Garden Bunny range, of which I also bought cups and napkins as the design is so attractive and the range reasonably priced.

While paper plates is an occasional purchase for most people, I do tend to buy rather more than the average person for one reason or another. I'm a sucker for cute and well designed paper plates, obviously this is fine when I'm having a party but if I see a new or unusual paper plate while I'm out then I'll buy a pack just for my granddaughters' to eat their Saturday night snack off.

Compared to most paper plates I have used the Garden Bunny ones were slightly bigger, the website claims that they are 23cm but without measuring one I'd say they are actually a little bigger than this. I was impressed with the thickness of the card used to make the plates, I hate it when you use a paper plate which starts curling and bending as soon as you put anything heavier than a mini sausage roll on it as it often leads to dropping something and also makes you look very greedy indeed! The Garden Bunny plates are substantial enough to hold a nice selection from the buffet and will hold its shape well.

Another thing I like about these particular plates is that the sides are a little steeper than other paper plates, the sides slope quite steeply which gives almost a bowl effect and helps food to stay on the plate. This is handy when you have toddlers and small children as how many times have you seen a little one stand a little carelessly with a paper plate and the whole lot slides onto the floor? It's happened at my parties lots of times and although comical is something I do like to avoid if possible!

The plate itself is really well made, the coloured surface of the plate is slightly glossy which was great as the children were back and forth to the buffet and the sheen made it easy to shake any crumbs into the bin and wipe the plate with kitchen towel. I wouldn't go as far as saying you could wipe them and reuse them at your next party but the plates were certainly strong enough to withstand several buffet trips AND be used as a frisbee afterwards!

I can't fault these plates at all; they look great, do a perfect job of holding my food and are durable as far as paper plates go. I think the Garden Bunny plates are beautifully designed. I love the fact that the rabbit looks real as this was the main thing I was after when looking for paper plates and I like how the artist who designed the plates has added flowers, brightly painted Easter eggs and a single butterfly who has captured the attention of the rabbit. It's just cheesy, twee and absolutely gorgeous! I bought other items from the Garden Bunny range and was impressed by all, the whole set up looked fabulous on my dining table and the children loved them - so did the adults actually as my niece, who's 33, asked for one to take home to pin on her kitchen notice board!

The Garden Bunny plates are sold singly from www.partybox.co.uk and are priced at 26p each with no minimum order. I bought twenty and this cost £5.20, more than I would spend on a standard set of plates from Sainsbury's but the quality of them is superb so I don't mind paying a little over the odds for them. There is a delivery charge on orders below £50, my order eventually just scraped through for free delivery which was great but if you're planning to just buy the plates then paying for delivery will really bump the price up.
