~*~ The Purchase ~*~
I absolutely love scented candles so I decided to buy a few of these to try after seeing that they were half price in my local Tesco's.
~*~ Price ~*~
Each candle has a recommended retail price of £4.00, but as I said above I managed to get all of mine half price which I'm really pleased with and I would quite happily pay the full RRP when it comes to buying some more due to how long each candle lasts.
~*~ Availability ~*~
These candles are really widely available and they can be found in Wilkinson's, discount stores and a majority of supermarkets.
~*~ Fragrance ~*~
There are absolutely heaps of different fragrances available. There's the usual fresh & fruity scents as well as some foody and spicy scents. I currently have three different fragrances which are:
~ Magnolia & Vanilla
~ Spiced Apple
~ Warm Orange & Spice
All of the fragrances smell absolutely gorgeous and surprisingly natural - I can't wait to try out some of the other ones and there's even a chocolate & honey fragrance available, which sounds amazing!
There is a fragrance to suit everyone and I like that they have different candles for different seasons, eg light and fresh scents for the summer months and spicy, warm scents for the winter months.
I actually had the spiced apple scent burning over the Christmas period and it made the house smell really warm and cosy. Even though we burnt it almost every night for a solid week, there's still quite a bit of wax left and the smell is just as strong which for a relatively cheap candle is really impressive in my opinion!
~*~ Candle Design ~*~
All of my Glade candles are in glass containers/jars which are round and quite chunky, however I am aware that tumbler versions are also available. Each jar is designed to reflect the fragrance, for example my spiced apple one has got a red and white colour scheme with a Christmassy design.
I love that they come in the glass jars as it makes them seem a lot more expensive than they actually are and the jars can be reused. I also like that once the candle has burnt down a little the flame from the candle really lights up the jar so it looks gorgeous on my mantle piece.
~*~ My Opinion ~*~
I'd seen these candles around a few times but never bothered buying any because I assumed that they'd smell overpowering and like air freshener due to the brand name and I also assumed that they'd be quite pricey due to the expensive looking packaging.
After seeing that they were half price in Tesco though I had a quick sniff of one and was pleasantly surprised by how nice the smell was. I ended up buying three to try and I will definitely be buying some more when I next see them as they are incredibly good value for money, even at the full price of £4.00 - they last for ages!
The first thing I like about them would have to be the pretty packaging and the fact that the packaging (a round glass jar) can be reused for a variety of things makes it even better value for money! I also like that although the fragrances aren't overpowering, they're strong enough to quickly get rid of any cooking smells and my home smells almost instantly fresher.
We have an open plan living room and dining room which is pretty big and it takes just a few minutes for the smell to completely fill the room. Each of the candles that I have has got a decent sized wick and I've never had any problems with lighting them. The wick does flake quite a bit when it's burning meaning that little black 'crumbs' are often on the wax, but as the candle is jarred this is unnoticeable and I am never able to smell a burning scent or anything while it is lit.
When I blow the candle out there is quite a bit of smoke and a slight burning scent, but this soon fades. As for the lasting power of the fragrance, it's really good. I usually burn one of these for 3-4 hours each evening while me and my partner relax and the smell is still slightly detectable for a good hour or so even once I've blown it out.
I only burn these down stairs, but if I need to pop upstairs to get something or get changed while one is burning the scent is very noticeable upstairs too so it really spreads throughout the house. The manufacturers state that each candle has a burn time of around 30 hours, which I would say is accurate as the one that I am currently burning has been burnt almost everyday for over a week for a few hours each time and there's still a small amount of wax left.
~*~ Overall ~*~
Highly recommended.
