“ Brand: Glade / Product Type: Air Freshener „
I purchased a glade plug in a few months ago to freshen up the living room of the new house - I always like a room to have a welcoming scent.I got this from Wilkinson's for around £3/4 and the fragrance I purchased was apple, although there were many more available including lemon, floral, and berry fragrances.
I won't go into too length a description of what it looks like, as there's a perfectly good picture up there you can see, but it's basically a three pin plug, a bottle of perfume, and a clip to hold the perfume in place, all in white plastic with the exception of the perfume, which is a clear glass bottle with a light green coloured liquid inside.
It's very easy to use. You simply remove it from the outer packaging (too boring to describe), remove the top from the bottle, shove the bottle in the holder, and plug it into the wall. As it warms up, the smell fragrances the room and covers up any nasty smells. It has three settings enabling you to vary the strength depending on how much fragrance you would like.
The box says that this gives 75 days of freshness based on using it for ten hours a day. I purchase mine in early April and it still has around a quarter of the fragrance left in it. That said, I only really use it in between coming home from work and going to bed.
The smell (in this case apple) was pleasant but certainly synthetic, a little sickly, and I did find it a little overwhelming, even on the lowest setting for a few days while I got used to it. After a couple of days, I barely noticed it, although friends coming to my house do comment on the smell, in a very positive way.
There is a warning on the box only to use as directed, probably to stop people rubbing the perfume onto their skin, and probably a wise piece of advice to follow. Also there's a warning to keep it out of children's reach, which can be a pain if all your sockets are at floor level. Mine is plugged in at floor level but it's behind the sofa so my little *angel* can't get to it. Also, as with most household cleaning products, you should seek medical advice immediately if swallowed and don't induce vomiting. And you shouldn't handle it with wet hands or metallic objects, as there is still a danger of electric shock.
So, what do I think? Yes, it god rid of any pong lurking in my house, although the smell was a little overpowering at first. But it does last a fair while (if like me you use it for just a couple of hours each day) and I find it less cloying than spray air fresheners. I think I'd buy it again, although I wouldn't say I feel any brand loyalty to it.
Overall, a good, but not brilliant product.
Thanks for reading.
I stumbled across the Glade Circul'air whilst wandering around Asda last week. I immediately thought it was a good idea as I live in an old farmhouse where the rooms are large, the normal plug in fresheners don't seem to do a lot, the scent seems to linger around the plug sockets. The main thing that attracted me was the fact that Asda have the entire unit, with scent bottle and 50p off your next purchase voucher for £2.00!
I bought the 'Island Breeze' scent, as it sounded very summery and fresh, Glade describe it as "a fresh sparkling fragrance with a hint of lime and red berries, to give a summer feeling to your home" and it does exactly what it says on the tin! The only downside is that, unlike other brands that have a 'scratch and sniff' type sticker on the packaging you have no idea of the scent that you are buyng unless you've either bought it before or know someone who has.
The Glade Circul'air is very simple to use, in fact, no different to the original Glade plug-in.
The directions are simple;
1. Remove cap and insert bottle into the diffuser. Keep cap for future use. Plug the diffuser in and switch the socket on. After a short period Glade Circul'air will begin to freshen the room.
2. Adjust the setting: Use the adjuster to make the fragrance lighter or stronger. The higher the setting, the stronger the fragrance released.
I have mine in my very large, wide open hallway, set on number 3, which is halfway. Every so often the fan kicks in for a few seconds. The fan is very quiet, barely noticable in fact.
The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the scent bottle doesn't seem to fit very tightly. I actually removed and reinserted it, thinking that it wan't in properly, but it was, it just wobbles, though I shouldn't think that this is a problem, since the diffuser should be sat very still in your electrical socket, unless you have a very inept electrician!
I'm thoroughly pleased with mine, I was sceptical to begin with, having many various animals and children running in and out accompanied by the dogs for the best part of the day, not to mention the cats litter tray, I've bought many 'amazing' products previously, which don't cut it, now I am greeted by a lovely, fresh scent everytime I venture into the hallway.
Since writing my initial review I have discovered that the Glade Circul'air was on offer at ASDA at the price of £2.00. It is an offer that they seem to promote quite often. The standard price that this product retails for at ASDA is £2.98.
I apologise if this caused any confusion.
