Air Freshener in the toilet is one of life's necessary evils. As I've said in previous air freshener reviews, I have had two air fresheners on the go since I purchased the Asda Smartprice air freshener which is lasting me for years since I try to avoid using it wherever possible - it's not THAT bad, but then it's not good either.
Having put my Mulled Wine air freshener back in the cupboard to bring back out next Christmas, I put the Glade Clean Linen Air freshener (produced by Johnson) back on top of my toilet alongside the Smartprice one. Therefore this is the air freshener which I currently use mostly when eliminating those toilet odours!
This 300ml can (so it's bigger than some) is an attractive white and light blue colour. There's a picture of an open window blowing a breeze onto the curtains and a pile of what I think are bed sheets (that'll be the linen!)...it makes me think of spring as I write this in the freezing cold winter.
This can has the nozzle as part of the lid rather than being something you have to remove. While I find that these sometimes fail, I have had no problems with this Glade air freshener. It is a pretty sturdy and good quality can.
---Using the air freshener---
As the instructions on the back of the can say "Shake can well. To freshen the air, point can towards centre of room and spray. This product is not recommended for use on fabric" (so don't go spraying on your dirty linen in an attempt to make it appear clean!) I am pleased to say that there is no leaking or dripping as there can be with some air fresheners.
As with all air fresheners there are a number of warnings on the can, such as its flammability, keeping out of the reach of children and that solvent abuse can kill instantly. These warnings are written in a wide variety of languages.
---The smell and other info---
As far as toilet air fresheners go, I think that this isn't a bad one at all. Although the smell is fairly artificial, it's not as bad as some. It certainly isn't one of those chemically smelling ones which makes you choke!
The can claims that this spray provides instant freshness and long lasting fragrance. I'd say that it is ever so slightly unpleasant right at the beginning (but then, it's better than the toilet smells it's covering!), but it soon mellows into quite a nice fresh smell which does the job of eliminating odours. I prefer the smell of real clean linen, but this isn't bad as a substitute. It does have a slight floral hint to it. As the can claims I think it does last pretty well.
I am not brand loyal where it comes to air fresheners. However, I would recommend this. You don't need to spray a great deal, so it will last you well. At the current cost of £1.20 in Asda and £1.23 in Tesco, it's pretty good value. You might even be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.
There are other products in the Glade range which use this fragrance (such as touch n fresh dispensers), so they might be worth bearing in mind if you use that sort of thing! Glade also have different fragrances available as air fresheners, so perhaps bear in mind if Clean Linen doesn't take your fancy.
I'll give this 4 out of 5 stars!
Throughout my house there are numerous plug in air fresheners and various candles and reed diffusers. Having a nice smelling home is important, and makes it a welcoming environment for guests, as well as a nice environment to live in also. I like to always have a few air fresheners handy to spruce up the smell of a room, or even to try and mask certain odours. I do not have any pets and nobody in my house smokes, however occasionally the house can have smells such as cooking floating around which I would like to mask. I also like to place some of them in bathrooms too to leave it smelling fresh and clean all day.
I picked up this Glade Clean Linen air freshener when I was doing the weekly grocery shop. I do my main shop in Asda, so this is where I purchased it from. It only cost me £1.20 which I think is a reasonable enough price for an air freshener. I often see this air freshener of offer for £1.00, and you can pick it up from most supermarkets as it is widely stocked.
It comes in a standard 300ml can, which is a good size and lasts a while. The can has been updated more recently and looks a little more modern. It is predominantly light blue and white in colour which matches the shade of it nicely. The can contains all the usual suspects found on an air freshener such as safety warnings etc...
Although there were a few scents on offer to choose from, I was drawn towards the clean linen fragrance. This is because fresh scents are one of my favourites, and clean linen is a scent you would associate around the home. I mostly use this spray in bedrooms so it really matches the feel of the room well. The scent did not let me down and it smells lovely. It is really fresh and delicate, and I like to spray it on to bedsheets to refresh them as well as all around the room. It smells just like fresh laundry and is one of my favourite scents. I love this and it really makes the room smell much cleaner, without doing any cleaning!
As my house does not tend to be full of many smells, this meets my needs fantastically. However, when it comes to masking strong smells such as perhaps pets or smoking I don't feel this would be a great air freshener. Because of its light and delicate scent, it enhances the smell of the room rather than masking harsh scents. I would recommend trying a different scent if you are requiring an air freshener to mask smells. This is a bit of a shame as the scent is not too strong, but this does not affect me personally so I am fine with this.
Using this is really simple, and you just have to hold down firmly on the spray. The air freshener comes out at a good consistency and speed and fills up the whole room within a matter of seconds. I use mine regularly and it has last me a good few weeks which is great, and I will definitely be stocking up on some more of this when I am finished.
For the small price tag which this air freshener holds, it does actually last quite a good time. I have noticed that when you spray some air fresheners, they smell delicious for the first couple of minutes and then they seem to be almost suddenly completely absent from the room. This air freshener does linger throughout even bigger rooms, and is a really fresh and welcoming scent to walk into a room to. I would say that the smell is significant for a good couple of hours, so it is a really high quality air freshener from Glade.
Overall, I am really happy with the clean linen air freshener from Glade. It has done everything which I was hoping for and ultimately, it smells great. It makes the rooms of my house smell lovely and clean and lasts a long time. The only fault I can find is that it is not brilliant at masking stronger smells. Thanks for reading.
I share my home with gorgeous cat Myrtle and its fair to say that sadly with me smoking and loving takeaways and spicy cooking my home can become a bit whiffy from time to time. Of course I open my windows and I even use plug ins but I do like to use an instant air freshening product and nine times out of ten I go for Glade aerosol sprays as not only do I appreciate the quality and fragrances of them but more often than not I can find them on offer at a pound a can in places like Asda and Tesco and if not on offer I usually pay around £1.50 a can for them which I still think is great value for what they are and provide.
The Can:comes in a l
This comes in a light blue and white can and on the front of it of course we are told what it is and who it is by and that it is a Johnson's product then on the back of the can we are told how to use it, lots of warnings and so on (and in foreign languages too) are also given, the size is stated which is 300ml and contact details for the manufacturer are finally listed. To the top of the can there is an integrated push button aerosol style dispenser to it which is strong and easy to use and all in all the can looks really nice and of good quality that you expect from a Glade product.
Well to use this you simply spray it into a room of course and whenever you want instant freshness. I don't find this to be a wet spray at all but not a harsh dry powdery spray either and the scent is very, very lightly floral, fresh and sort of spring fresh and just really pleasant and smooth in its smell really.
The scent once sprayed rather sparingly lingers for a good hour before fading and this is quite simply a product that masks smells for a while and then when it disappears it does seem to take nasty smells off with it and then if I want to I can simply spray it again! A can of this lasts me ages and ages even though I grab it often and it makes my home smell fresh and it makes it smell clean too!
A great buy and I have no issues with this at all!

I actually ended up trying this after reading a review about it by Supersonic75. The power of Dooyoo. If you haven't read her work you should check it out as it is really good!
I like to use Air Fresheners and normally go for the Fresh or Fruity kind of scents. Not all that into Floral scents. I like the smell of Yankee Candle Clean Cotton smell, so throught I would love this one.
I ended up getting a tin of this in Savers for £1, which was a bit cheaper than i've seen it in Asda. This comes in a 300ml tin and it looks like the picture on here, so an ok looking tin. From the colouring on the tin it gives the impression that this is a light and airy kind of smell.
So just spray this as you would normally do and this will disperse the scent into the air. Not really a critisism of this, but the design of the tin is a bit dated and has been this kind of shape with the push in part on the top of the tin for you to press this and get the scent out. It's easy enough to use, but I would have thought thesedays tins could look a bit nicer. Then again it's about what's inside that counts.
This is quite a strong smell, but I did squirt quite a lot of this when I first used this. The smell of this is lovely. It does smell like Fresh airy, breezy scented washing. Not in a Soapy way but this reminds me of when it's a Spring Morning and you get that nice crisp scent. It is really nice and although perhaps not exactly what I thought it would smell like as there seems to be a dash of white florals in here but overall the smell from this is lovely.
After I have finished this tin I can see myself buying this again. It is just the kind of smell that I go for and i'm glad that I tried it.
Though my husband is not keen on air fresheners being used around our home I do often purchase them and use them when he is out. He says the house smells fresher when the windows are open which though I wholeheartedly agree with, it is not always suitable to open windows and certain cooking smells at times need eliminating fast.
I am a big fan of the Fabreze range but unless it is on a promotional offer it is not always economical to buy these products despite the more 'natural' scent they leave in their wake.
Having scoured the shelves of my local supermarket recently for a cheaper alternative, I spotted this can by Glade entitled Clean Linen which not only sounded lovely but was also only £1..
'Clean Linen' is made by Glade who are owned by SC Johnson, which are renowned for their household products, and this not only comes in an aerosol format but also as a plethora of different products all scented with this fragrance including a plug in.
Clean Air comes housed in a tall, cylindrical shaped tin and is a respectable 300ml in size whilst costing around the £1 mark at most leading supermarkets etc.
The can is predominantly white and very pale blue, presumably to represent the 'natural' scent that accompanies it and features on the front a sketch of an open window and folded linen which all give the impression this is indeed going to smell 'clean'.
To access the air freshener there is an integrated nozzle which is placed directly on top of the can and after de pressing this once to break the seal the contents are then ready to be released into the air.
My experience of using this~
As I mentioned in the first paragraph of this review, my husband is really not keen on air fresheners of any kind around the home though doesn't mind scented candles. Anything sprayable is frowned upon but it doesn't stop me from buying any! When I saw this I immediately liked the sound of it as it claims to be infused with essential oil extracts so for me it sounded perfect and even more so at the very economical price of just £1.
On testing this out at home I decided to try it out in my bathroom firstly. Our cottage is all on one level and the window in the bathroom is very 'tricky' to open at present and we are in the process of saving for a new one fitting. Because of this the bathroom can smell quite damp at times despite other windows in the house being opened and various dehumidifying products that are dotted about. Add to this the usual 'bathroom smells' then it can come across as not being the most pleasant smelling room in the house so for obvious reasons it needs a quick blast of something to try to eradicate these smells.
On pressing the nozzle down (after breaking the seal) I found that the air freshener emits at a high speed and is in the form of a misty liquid. Though the liquid seems 'heavy' it does actually seem to hang in the air for a greater period of time than say watery mist room fresheners so I had high hopes that this would leave the room scented for quite a long time after spraying.
The fragrance is indeed a very clean and fresh scent and to me it had a slight floral quality to it which reminded me of lilies? I have no idea if lilies are involved here but that is my own opinion of how it actually smells.
After around twenty minutes I could clearly smell the clean linen fragrance and by this time the scent seemed to have wafted around my entire house - though my house is very small!
My bathroom had a lovely 'clean' smell for up to 2 hours later from this aerosol which I deemed to be a very good value product on that information as often air fresheners can fragrance the air briefly before diminishing and disappearing within minutes - but not this.
I have been using this almost everyday now for about 3 weeks and there still seems to be plenty of the product still left in the can as only a few short, sharp sprays are needed each time making the product last.
My husband has even commented that the house has had a nice smell on his arrival home from work at teatime despite the fact the product hasn't been used since the early afternoon so it really seems to linger in the air a long time after using.
I really like this particular fragrance as it is quite a light and 'natural' scent that doesn't smell too artificial like some air fresheners can. Another reason for my love of it is this, like fabreze, eliminates the odours and doesn't mask them so again it scores points from me.
I have found this particularly effective after cooking certain foods as one or two blasts of this near to my kitchen entrance and the smells have more or less disappeared and have been replaced by a much nicer aroma.
Even if you are not a fan of air fresheners this could be the one to change your mind.
I find that using an air freshener in the home helps it smell a lot better and they refresh the air when my wife is not using a scented candle. I find them nice and handy to give a nice smell in my rooms and I like them because they are handy for a removing nasty smells from cooking. Cooking smells can be annoying if a curry has been cooked because it tends to linger for a while and a spray soon makes for a more pleasant smell.
This one comes in a long thin can, it has an inserted nozzle and costs around £1.20 for 300ml, I bought it on special offer for only £1 so quite a saving. It has a nice design on the front of the can in a pale blue colour with the name clearly on the front so it can be seen from shelves in the supermarket.
The smell is really nice and it smells of clothes that have been washed and dried. It is a really strong fragrance and very pleasant in the rooms around my home. I like to keep a freshener in the bathroom and this one is nice for the bathroom area. It eliminates smells in the bathroom very nicely and makes it smell nice and fresh.
When sprayed this one really has a nice even mist, it is not too heavy a spray, it does not drip from the can because it is a very good quality. I find it just sprays into the air and not a messy spray that keeps dripping from the can and it does make a mess on furniture as I have found with some other brands. Air Wick is a well known brand and they pride produce really good quality products and this one is a really nice one from the range.
Only a quick spray is needed to eliminate cooking smells that can be annoying after cooking a curry or a strong smell. It is really good for removing pet smells from my home because I have a few pets and my rooms can become a little stale at times if windows have not been left open. This spray helps to make my rooms smell refreshing and give that clean smell.
It is worth the money and good value, it is one that I recommend to others to buy because it can help the home to smell nice and fresh, and especially clean for when visitors arrive.
I rate it 5 stars.
I buy and use a lot of different brands of air fresheners because I really do not have a favourite and love the choice of different fragrances on the market. They are essential in my home because I have a cat and a neighbours cat almost lives with me and visits every day and makes himself nice and cosy and so I have to use air fresheners to remove odours.
I have bought this one a few times because I like it, it is a nice quality spray and it comes in a can with an inserted nozzle, the nozzle is easy to press and to release the spray into the air. The spray with this one is a nice even one and it does not drip from the can whilst spraying as I have found some other fresheners tend to do but this one is very good.
The smell is a really nice clean and fresh fragrance and it smells like fresh laundry which has been taken from where laundry is stored in my opinion, the smell is so pleasant, the mist does not land on the furniture and be wet and heavy as some tend to do, this one is so fine a mist it just lands lightly and does not make a mess.
For a 300ml can it is a good price and I paid only £1 at the time I bought it and I think that is very good value for this freshener because it removes odours in my rooms and the fresh smell lasts for a very long time. I usually just use a quick spray into the air for a couple of seconds and the task is done. As the smell lasts for quite some time I find the can lasts a long time and so worth the price tag with this freshener.
Glade is a very well known brand and so it is very reliable with the quality as with most of the products and this one is no different. It removes odours around the home just how I like them to be removed and the fragrance is long lasting and really does have the staying power that I like from an air freshener.
This spray is of such a good quality it only really needs a quick spray and that is enough to make the room smell nice and fresh. I have found I do not have to keep spraying as I have with some other brands. I have a cat and a neighbours cat that almost lives at my home and so he might as well belong to me the amount of time he sleeps and eats in my home and so those pet smells are always in my home and this spray make my rooms smell so much better.
It also removes cooking smells which can sometimes linger in my home if curry or fish has been cooked and this spray takes those odours away perfectly so my home is back to the normal smell within no time at all.
I usually like a fragrance with a little more scent than this one has but I think this one is a different kind of smell in my opinion. I think it does not really have so much of a distinctive smell, just of fresh laundry is how I can only describe it to be. It is one that I really do like and the amount of fragrance it does have is more than suitable for my home and one that I highly recommend if you have not tried it before as I do not think you would be disappointed at all with this one.
A little really does go a very long way with this one and I fresheners all the time and every day in my home and this one that I will keep on buying because I really do like it.
I give it 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review.
We don't use air-fresheners a great deal, but we do keep aerosols in the bathrooms and in the kitchen and they do get used from time to time.
We use Neutradol in the bathrooms but downstairs we have been using Glade Clean Linen. It's good to have a quick spray to mask cooking smells or just to freshen up your home to make it more welcoming for visitors. More tea, Vicar?
That said, so many air fresheners have an unnatural kind of smell that you would just never get in a house - such as Magnolia and Vanilla for example. Also, some of them, particularly the cheaper ones, seem to catch in your throat. Whenever I visit a house which has been sprayed, I always wonder what smell they are trying to hide so I don't really like using them much.
We have stuck with Glade Clean Linen because we think it is a fairly accurate smell and everyone but everyone loves the smell of clean sheets. It is also a gently unassuming fragrance that does last quite well rather than invade the nostrils and dry your throat only to have dissipated in 5 minutes.
Glade is an SC Johnson's brand and is one of the main brands of air fresheners enjoying a good reputation. The can we buy is a fairly standard 300ml and I haven't seen other sizes larger or smaller. The can is attractively designed but carries a whole host of warnings on the can in very small print.
The can is a pressurised container and the contents are extremely flammable. Obviously you need to be careful how and where you spray it. Best to spray it high in the air away from people, pets, food and work surfaces. This would apply equally well with all aerosol fresheners. Of course, the product contains solvents so it carries a warning to the effect that solvent abuse can kill instantly.
The spray you get is fairly dry rather than wet. The nozzle is reliable and gives an even spray without clogging. We generally buy when the product is on offer and have been very pleased with the authenticity of the smell. As with all things, if you overdo the spraying it can spoil the effect.
Clean linen is a smell I always remember when I was a child, whenever my mum would do her washing she would wrap me up in the really warm cosy, bed cover that had just come out the tumble dryer. I always loved the warmth on my cheek and the lovely fresh smell. Since then I'm all grown up and doing my own washing in my own home and still love the smell of fresh smelling washing some people like weird smells but I like this one! I can't believe they have canned the smell for me! So now I love spraying it round my home, when you walk in it smells so fresh and clean.
It's mad how we all remember different smells as children even when we grow up we never forget them! Glades clean linen is perfect for your home and great for those horrible house smells! Families are always bringing in different smells but after walking my dog the house doesn't smell that nice especially if it's been raining and wet dog smell well think you know what I'm saying! Yuk.
This glade clean linen has a 2 in 1 action it freshens and fragrances all in one can.
You simply give it a shake and then a spray but always hold at arms length and point towards the centre of the room read the directions on the back of the can for assistance. Do not spray near an open flame because this is highly flammable.
The smell stays in the room for ages but be careful do not spray too much because a bout of coughing may occur as I have experienced!
You get 300ml in the can and you can pick this up at your supermarket I got mine from Asda for 99p and that is a bargin! It is not used for fabric but glade does a clean linen room spray for fabric as well which I also like buying to make the house fresher.
Always use in well-ventilated rooms never in confined spaces and keep out of the reach of children at all times.
The air freshener sprays the scent out of the top of the can. This should last you a while 300ml is more than enough and sometimes Asda do a 2 for the price of one offer so keep your eye out for that. I recommend this airfreshner to anyone who likes a clean fresh smell in his or her home and want a nice scent throughout the house. I have used this for two years now and will still be using it in years to come, love the smell!
5 stars for freshness
5 stars for packaging
5 stars for result.
That lovely just washed aroma that hits you when you have just spent the afternoon slaving over the washing machine and tumble dryer is what makes the whole effort worth it. There is nothing like the fresh linen smell that seeps through the house once your freshly washed clothes has been folded and put away.
Having often thought that it would be nice to replicate that lovely clean linen effect without having to spend hours washing and drying, I was pleasantly surprised when I came across the Glade 2 in 1 Clean Linen spray.
The Glade 2 in 1 Clean Linen spray comes in a neat and fresh blue spray can that shows the Glade logo and has a picture of a window with a pile of freshly washed sheets or towels near it. Its easy to spot on the supermarket shelves as it does stand out.
The product has a simple push mechanism built into the pale blue plastic lid that allows a measured spray of the product to be pumped out. The longer you press down on the angled button the more the spray pumps out of the can. You don't need to push down too firmly as just a light pressure will activate the spray.
I find that you don't need to spray too much of the product to get a lovely fresh aroma. It really does remind you of that just washed freshness that you get after doing the washing. Its such a neutral and pleasing aroma that you can use it in every room of the house without it seeming too over powering.
The product is labeled as a 2 in 1 item as its meant to freshen and fragrance at the same time. It certainly does that, but it doesn't claim to be able to neutralize all strong smells. I am not sure as to how well it would cope with masking cigarette or pipe smoke smells as we have not tested the product in that type of situation.
In summary I can say that the product does provide a long lasting and pleasant freshness, which is subtle enough to be used all over the home. Its not sharp or cloying and is a very good impression of that just washed aroma that we all know and love.
My rating for this is 5 stars as its a nice product that is reasonably priced. Expect to pay between £1 to £1.30 for a 300ml can of Clean Linen, that should last several weeks even with daily use.
I would have to say that Glade Clean Linen is probably my most favourite air freshener. I have tried dozens of different air fresheners over the years but this is the one I always seem to come back too.
The scent of this air freshener is amazing and really does it for me. When I first smelt Glade Clean Linen it instantly reminded me of being on holiday (the smell of the crisp, clean sheets and bedding as you walk into the apartment) and even though I have now been using it for years it still gives me that feeling. It smells so fresh and well, clean!
I use the air freshener all around my home and pay special attention to areas that aren't the freshest smelling areas of the house, such as the dogs bed! I also make sure to give the house a good spritz with Glade Clean Linen when I have finished clean ups and tidy ups.
Glade Clean Linen claims to not only to fragrance but to also freshen. This is a believable claim as my house always smells clean and fresh after I have used this air freshener. You can really notice the difference when you walk into the house from outdoors or walk into a room which has been sprayed.
The can says not to use on fabrics but I like to give things like the sofas a little spray over (not at close range) as I believe the fabric traps in the air freshener and keeps my fabrics smelling fresher for longer...
The time that I spray the air freshener to the time that the air freshener fades away is about 30 minutes which isn't too bad (this will probably vary according to different households) and a can usually lasts me about 3 weeks with regular use (again, this will vary according to how much you use it).
For inbetween sprays you might want to consider a plug-in air freshener which fragrances the home all day long. Glade Clean Linen is also available as a plug-in freshener.
-Packaging and such-
The air freshener is in the form of an aerosol. The size of the aerosol is 300ml and is quite tall.
The can is decorated very nicely and is easy to spot of the shelf. It is a light blue colour with a picture of a pile of clean sheets sitting next to a window with a view of pretty spring flowers outside.
The air freshener is dispensed by pressing down on the top of the can, which is very easy to use (so keep away from the kids!).
-Cost and availability-
Glade Clean Linen air freshener is available at most supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda etc) and generally costs around £1.00 - £2.00, although I often see it on offer (particuarly in Tesco). I must say this is a product I am happy to pay full price for and feel it's great value for money.
This is a lovely, fresh smelling air freshener which I suggest everybody gives a go. It is particularly refreshing in spring and summer months but is suitable for use all year round. It freshens up my whole house nicely and is suitable for use in all rooms.
This air freshener is totally true to it's name and doesn't disappoint.
