Glade Drop in Vac
Description: Manufacturer: SC Johnson / Air Fresheners / Glade Drop in Vac is a room freshener which is placed inside your vacuum cleaner dust bag. Each small sachet of powder contains a special fragrance to overcome vacuum odours and leave the room smelling fresh.
Those who may have read some of my earlier reviews (thank you very much for this - I really appreciate all reads, rates and comments!) may know by now that I have pets. 2 Siamese house cats and a small dog to be precise. Now, don't get me wrong, I love them and wouldn't be without them, but they do mean that I have to spend more time cleaning that other people to ensure that my home always looks and smells as clean and hygienic as possible.
Unfortunately, and as anyone with pets will tell you, they are hairy little things and have no qualms about shedding their fur on your carpets etc! This means extra hoovering to make sure that carpets are as clean as they can be, and for me, hoovering is one of my least favourite tasks. Let's face it, hoovering carpets is never going to be fun and it is made worse for me by the fact that we have a upright hoover which is quite heavy. I am only five feet tall and weigh between seven and a half and eight stone, so the battle with the hoover is something that I dread!
I paid £1.30 for a packet containing 3 sachets which are individually wrapped for freshness. Basically, you just drop a sachet into the dust bag of your hoover where it should help to freshen and fragrance as you hoover.
In theory, these are a decent enough idea but if I am being totally honest, they are not really that effective. They do leave a slight floral fragrance in the wake of the hoover but this quickly vanishes and I have found much better results using Shane N Vac (a powdered product which you sprinkle on to carpets before hoovering and then hover up).
The lily of the valley fragrance is a little artificial for my liking and the scent doesn't really last long enough. These are a good idea but for me to keep buying them, they would need to improve.
Of course, everyone is different and you may find that you like these, but for me, they are a little weak and there are better options on the market so I am awarding them only 2 Dooyoo stars.
I've never been able to understand people who enjoy hoovering. Lugging a big, heavy plastic hoover around the house isn't my idea of fun. In fact, I find this chore so tedious that I go into a katatonic state at the mere sight of the vacuum cleaner.
Unfortunately, I can't claim that Drop in Vac makes hoovering fun. However, if you have a bagged vacuum, it will get two jobs done in place of one by making your rooms smell sweet and fresh as you hoover. It might not be enough to prevent you feeling bored, but at least you'll be bored in a room that's pleasantly fragranced.
The small cardboard wrapper contains three sachets of scent. You simply drop one into your hoover bag when you change it, and the force of the air being blown out of the machine will disperse the scent over the room. I used Lily of the Valley fragranced sachets, and the smell is pleasant, if a little sweet, though it does calm down a bit about quarter of an hour after you finish the job. The upshot is a great improvement on the smell of stale dust that hoovers tend to emit. When your bag is full, you aimply chuck the whole thing away, and pop a new sachet into the new bag. Easy peasy!
The two warnings that come with this product are not to split the bag and not to put it down on a polished surfaces. Why you'd want to do either thing, I'm not quite sure. I suppose there's no legislating for human weirdness.
Drop in Vac is easy to use and will brighten one of the worst household jobs a little. Oh, and at around £1.50 for 3, it's a pretty cheap fix too!
