Advantages: looks good, works well

Disadvantages: sets off regularly

When we moved in to our new home I wanted it to be very appealing to us, as well as visitors. One major thing that makes a house appeal to me is how it smells and I wanted all of our rooms to smell good and avoid any damp, stale or musty smells. I do like plug in air fresheners and I find that these work well but these are not an option for our bathroom or downstairs toilet due to their electrical nature. Previously, I have used gel air fresheners in bathrooms but I have found that these smell lovely to start with but fade out very quickly and do not fragrance the room well.

When I came across these sense and spray fresheners on promotion in Tesco, I though that they would be the perfect solution and I bought one in white (as pictured) for the downstairs cloakroom and one in sandstone for the bathroom as this fitted in with our brown coloir scheme perfectly. I can not remember exactly what I paid for them but I think it was around £6 each - they currently price at around £8-10.

The idea behind these fresheners is that they detect when someone passes by, instantly releasing a burst of fragrance into the air. To conserve the refill, the sensor will turn off automatically and will not spray for 20 minutes. It is battery powered and comes with a battery supplied. The unit also comes with a fragrance bottle to put in - these can also be purchased seperately in a variety of fragrances for around £4. On the front of the unit - which has an attractive, rounded vase like appearance, is a small flashing light indicating that the sensor is working.

When activated - either by someone walking past or by pushing the button on the front of the unit - a small spray of fragrance is omitted upwards. You can hear the spray as you would an aerosol can and also the spray is visible too. Immediately after the spray, the scent is apparent. I have the clean linen scent and this is very subtle but does make the room smell clean and fresh. It is not overpowering at all and quickly disperses to evenly scent the room lightly. I have found that the freshener lasts well. Being in the bathroom, it is activated quite frequently in the day but has so far lasted over 5 weeks. The battery life is also good. I am also pleased with how well the unit blends in to the room and it os quite discreet at the same time as looking good.

Overall, this is a great air freshener that works well and looks good. It can get annoying that it sprays everytime you pass - even if you are just passing in and out of the room but as it has lasted well, this doesn't bother me too much. The scent that I have tried is fresh and subtle and I look forward to trying more from the range.

Summary: fresh and clean
