It's now pathetically small and shrivelled....and it smells.

Advantages: It smells better than poo
Disadvantages: The smell soon wears off and it struggles to cope.
It isn't often that we spend money on goods which disappear of their own accord, without any outside interference from anyone. Glade Solid is just such a product and I removed a white plastic container from the high window shelf in our en-suite just the other day. I reckon it's been there over a year and has long since lost its evil pong - in our case, Lavender, but it comes in a variety of niffs.
I have never liked these things. Sometimes the smell of a masking agent struggling to cope with a poo smell is worse then the poo smell itself. Far better to open the window and/or poo in someone else's toilet.
My wife bought this way back when and thought it would make her precious en-suite smell fresh while shutting me up, continually moaning about sprays. It did smell for a bit, but I hardly ever spent any time in the en-suite because I tend to use the main bathroom for ablutions so its presence hasn't really bothered me that much.
I remember when first installing this on the window sill, all I had to do was peel off the sticker off the front of the cheap looking plastic container and in so doing expose some holes through which the fearful anti-pong pong could make its escape and pervade the atmosphere. The unit has a flat base on which it stands.
If you unclip the two sections of the container you can see that you start off with a decent sized wedge of solid but yielding gel that gradually over time shrivels to a shadow of its former self. It's rather like life itself........but more or less smelly, depending on your point of view.
The advantage of this product is that you can tuck it away somewhere and have it do its stuff silently and relentlessly.
The downside is that once you remove the seal, it's on all the time and will carry on releasing its smell whether you want it to or not. Seems a bit of a waste to me. Also, because it is a slow release gel, it doesn't cope well with stinky smells from monster dreadnoughts or curry-induced splatterings, when in order to cope, some additional more acceptable freshener pongs need to be drafted in, leaving the Glade Solid playing only a minor supporting role.
I really don't like this stuff. When freshly opened, the smell is really too strong, yet within a couple of weeks it seems scarcely noticeable. As I say, just open the window!
Summary: We've thrown ours out now and I wouldn't buy this again
