Advantages: Cheap, does the job, smells nice
Disadvantages: May be too subtle for some, quite cheap looking
Considering some of the air fresheners that are available these days, the bog standard Glade Solid Gel Air Fresheners look a bit cheap and tacky in comparison. However, some of the nicer looking ones can be quite expensive so I often purchase these for cheapness if nothing else.
My favourite scent by a long way in the range is the magnolia and vanilla one. I tend to purchase these for our conservatory area as this is where the dog spends the most time and sometimes, especially during the winter months when the windows have been closed, it can smell pretty nasty in there so I always have an air freshener on the go to take the edge off the 'dog' smell.
These don't look particularly pleasant with their basic white plastic shell and jelly like interior, but as they are neutral coloured, you don't really notice them and they don't stand out at all as being an ugly sight in your home.
They are available from most supermarkets and can be found down the aisle with cleaning products. In Tescos, these are generally available for 99p which I think is good value for money.
To use, you simply peel the front label off which reveals the grill on the front from which the scent escapes. To begin with, you have a full jelly like air freshener and as time goes on, you see the gel become quite limp and dishevelled which is the indication that the scent is running out and you need to replace it.
The scent is just lovely. If you want something quite powerful and really noticeable, then you may want something a little stronger than this as this is quite a muted smell. It is noticeable but it is quite subdued so doesn't hit you the moment you walk in the room. Having said that, it does do the trick and our conservatory smells so much better with this air freshener in than without it so although it isn't an 'in your face' kind of smell, it does over time leave a lasting, warming scent on the room which is far more welcoming than our 'dog' smell.
I do use nicer looking ones for around the home as they can look almost ornamental now and not cheap and tacky as this one does but for areas you don't tend to spend much time in then these are fab. The magnolia and vanilla scent in particular is divine and not too sweet or sickly, but quite fresh and summery. Overall, although these aren't the nicest looking air fresheners, I really like the magnolia one and recommend them to all.
