      Worth the money

I bought one of these for my new home from a discount store for around 2 pounds. I don't like the look of normal air freshness so went for this.

Appearance - I think the idea is for the air fresher to look more like an ornament and it is the style of a pebble or stone. Behind the plastic packaging it looks really good but I was slightly disappointed when I got it out. It felt really plasticky and was really light so didn't feel brilliant quality. When put in my living room though the effect is good and you can't tell it's plastic if you don't touch it.

Air fresher - the mechanism of the air fresher is really good and all you do is press the 'stone' down and scent squirts out of the top. I press mine all the time and it works perfectly every time. The smell is absolutely gorgeous too. It's really sweet smelling but not overpowering and doesn't smell like toilet air freshness. One tint squirt does my whole living room and kitchen and lasts too.

Price - you can get cheaper spray air freshness for a cheaper price but they tend to be overpowering and not last long. They also come in ugly bottles meaning you can't use them when you please. I'd say this price is good for what you get.

      Relaxing zen air freshener

Aerosol air fresheners are good up to a point, they can mask unpleasant smells but I usually end up choking on the smell! A couple of months ago I spotted an offer for a Glade "touch'n'fresh" Relaxing Zen unique pebble design and decided it was something I fancied trying.

Left on a table you would be forgiven for thinking it was a stoneware salt cellar! It is a pebble design in natural speckled colour with a small hole on the top. It stands about 8cm high, about 7cm at its widest point and 4cm wide but narrower at the top. My bathroom is natural, cream and brown colours so it fits on the wooden corner shelf unit very nicely along with a dish of pebbles I already had. Light to pick up, you realise it is only plastic but from further away you might think it was stone.

It came in a cardboard sleeve covering a plastic moulded insert which contained the two parts, the outer pebble dispenser part and a small 10ml cartridge. The cartridge may be small but it states it will give up to 100 sprays. Simple to assemble the cartridge is gently pushed inside the dispenser until it clicks into place. To use, you just push the dispenser down, making sure it isn't pointed towards anyone or especially into your face. The dispenser released a measured dose which instantly freshens the area you are in with a very pleasant fresh fragrance. I find it hard to pinpoint the fragrance, slightly floral but also similar to fragrances classed as sea breeze etc. It is a relaxing fragrance and one I like in my home.

So far I haven't had to change the cartridge, but it says to hold the dispenser and pull the cartridge out.

Normally selling at £6 mine was only £3 but when it runs out I will definitely be buying a refill which costs £2.50.

Do I like it? in a word - YES. Will I buy another? YES. Do I recommend it? YES, especially if you see it on offer!

Snap one up while it's on offer

We have just put our house on the market and I am finding it a highly stressful experience - it is hard enough to keep the house in tip top condition, and I really do not want to be worried about suspect whiffs. Whilst perusing the air freshener aisle I found the Glade touch 'n fresh pebble which is a new product to the market and so it was on an introductory offer for £3.

The pebble comes in a simple cardboard sleeve so there is a minimum amount of packaging that is of course, fully recyclable. You have to assemble the unit which is a very simple process of simply popping the cartridge into the base of the dispenser until it clicks, then you are ready to go. Pushing gently on the top of the pebble once placed on a flat surface releases the spray into the air - be careful not to stand over it or you will get a face full of Relaxing Zen which won't be quite so relaxing!

        Appearance

I had seen the adverts for this new product and I thought that it looked fairly attractive for an air freshener. On very close inspection the unit is a little disappointing as it is very light weight and made of plastic which looks quite cheap looking but from a distance, it really does look moderately stylish. The lightly textured surface of the unit is very tactile and the mottled effect in beiges and browns gives the illusion of an actual pebble, however the uniform and symmetrical shape is always going to give it away! The product stands at 9cm high, is 8cm wide and has a depth of 4cm so it is not at all intrusive and if your style is anything like mine - the ultimate Mrs Beige (well, Natural Hessian actually) this "pebble" will fit in perfectly.

        Scent

The relaxing zen scent which is released into the air really is very pleasant. The initial aroma is floral but it is not at all overwhelming as it has a background sweet fruity smell which balances out the fragrance perfectly. There is not a whiff of that alcohol smell that can often come with air fresheners and causes headaches, this is just a really light aroma which is good at masking unpleasant odours, or will simply give your room a freshening lift whenever you need it.

The underlying sweetness lingers in the air for about half an hour which I find sufficient; the unit releases a concentrated fragrance which lasts longer that a lot of other fresheners which can be up to 70% water. I am not sure that I find it particularly relaxing, but to be honest, it's going to take much more than a scent to de-stress me at the moment! The spray does not eliminate unpleasant odours it purely masks them, but I am yet to find a product that will destroy odours completely so I am happy with it.

        Availability

You can pick this air freshener up in most supermarkets at the moment, and I have also seen them in Wilkinsons and smaller retail stores. As this is a new product it is on promotion in most places at £3 which I think is reasonable as there are over 100 squirts in the cartridge, it's RRP is £6 for the unit, but you can pick up replacement cartridges for around £2.50 and these come in a variety of different scents, so you can change your aroma as your mood suits once you have the actual unit. You can also get the pebble in a mottled black colour (which comes with a fresh linen scent) and this might suit your home better if the beige isn't right for you.
