Advantages: Looks nice, good quality, affordable
Disadvantages: None
Before I had my baby in February me and my mum decided to clear the house through and get rid of bits that we didn't need to make room for all the baba's stuff. We sorted my room out last and one of the things that I have most of is beauty products. I had drawers full of goodies from Lush, body butters, tubs of E45 moisturising cream and so on, and I decided that I needed somewhere else to store them all together as they were taking up all of the drawers in the storage cabinet that I needed to put into my babies nursery. I bought some acrylic drawers for my makeup and I got this storage basket for my larger beauty items. I thought it'd be handy to have under my dressing table as it'd make reaching for the products quicker than searching through drawers of products!
I bought this in store from H&M and they had a large variety of storage baskets in a range of colours. I opted for this as I am really into shabby chic and vintage designs and this is the ultimate shabby chic item as it looks just like one of those sacks that they store hay etc in America, lol - sorry if you have no idea what I mean, but there's a picture above so you can see what it looks like. The bag is made of 100% jute which is thick and good quality. I think this design is very versatile as it's a simple beige colour and there's no fancy detailing.
It will fit in with pretty much any colour scheme and it goes well in my room. I have it tucked underneath my dressing table and it has all my most reached for items in it, for example I have a few of my lush ballistics laid in their, a few tubs of E45, a big pump of palmers cocoa butter and so on. I also have a large tin heart which contains makeup and it looks really nice; a bit like a hamper. It could be used to store absolutely anything and I am actually considering getting another one to put all the dog toys in as they get strewn all over the living room and these would keep them contained while the dogs weren't playing with them. It'd also be ideal as a washing basket.
The storage basket measures 29 x 35 x 42 cm. It's deep enough to store things on top of eachother and I can fit plenty into it without it overfilling or looking crammed full. I was a bit worried it'd look like it contained a pile of rubbish but it looks really nice in my opinion and is simple but it has a bit of character to it if that makes sense; I love the straw type texture of it and the 'storage' printed onto the front is designed nicely. If you don't like this then the basket can be turned around so that the print isn't visible and instead it will just look like a plain basket.
The basket is solid and not flimsy, which is due to the underwire around the rim. It doesn't look like it's sagging or falling over at all. The basket is priced at £7.99 instore and £9.99 online. I'm not sure why the prices are different but there's no point in complaining. I paid £7.99 as I bought it in store from my local H&M. I am happy with the price I paid because it's good quality and I like the design; it has much more character and a more versatile design than a bog standard plastic storage box would have. The basket has two handles either side which are strong and a decent size.
The only downside to the soft texture (compared to a plastic storage box) is that it really appeals to my dogs and they love nothing more than trying to get hold of it to chew up, lol. Same if you have a cat or other animal, they will likely try and rip it up or climb inside it but I solved this problem by just sticking my chair infront of it so they can't reach it; simple. Overall, I really reccomend this. It's good quality, holds plenty of items and looks lovely.
Summary: Reccomended
