One of these days I might grow out of liking cutesy childish things, but hopefully not any time soon! I'm a big fan of Hello Kitty and love the huge range of accessories and trinkets that are available. All my friends are aware of this silly obsession and I often end up receiving Hello Kitty themed gifts. This Hello Kitty towel was waiting for me under the Christmas tree last year.
The towel features a giant image of Kitty in her classic seated pose and is bright shades of pink which are vibrant and eyecatching. I really like this cute design, it's very bold and very girly! It is made of a fairly thin towelling material that is 100% cotton. The fabric feels really nice and soft against the skin, and it has retained this soft texture even after repeated uses and washes. I've been using it all the time since I received it at Christmas, and it has lasted incredibly well with absolutely no visible signs of wear and tear.
Because the towel is a little thinner than my usual bath towels, I have taken to bringing it with me to the gym, or when I'm travelling, as it folds up nice and neatly into a small bundle that is easily fitted inside a bag. It is lightweight so does not add too much extra bulk or weight when carried around. The bright and colourful design helps me to keep an eye on it so it doesn't get lost! It is quick to dry after hanging out for a while to get rid of any excess moisture. The towel does soak up water really quickly and helps to get my hair and body dried off after bathing and showering. The fabric is not quite as absorbent as thicker towels but this is not a problem for me as it gets the job done anyway.
I really love my Hello Kitty towel as it's a fun twist on an ordinary practical item. I like that it adds a touch of colour to my bathroom and my gym kit, and I can recommend it to other Hello Kitty fans.
My Hello Kitty towel was brought for use on the North Wales coastline. Yes, the sun does shine there!
I have a collection of beach towels so that no-one need feel uncomfortable on the beach. Four children, various adult friends, and I beach tested a load of towels.
This is one that goes down very well with the young girls. We had a beach cat fight break out between the ten and eight-year-old sisters over the Hello Kitty towel and a turtle beach towel. The boys looked on incredulously. They couldn't fathom why anyone would want a pink towel with a cat on it.
The cat has a cute pink bow in front of one ear and wears a pink dress. She is outlined in bold back. The towel is, eye catching and the design sweet. It is also very soft to the touch. As a female I total understand the cat fight over this towel. This Japanese white cat on a pink background is adorable with her big black eyes and little whiskers. The top of the towel reads, 'Hello Kitty' in a very childlike font. This just adds to the appeal. We decided to intervene and declare the winner of the towel was the first to reach the sea and run back to sit on the towel. The eldest won but her sister was promised it for the next time.
The towel is 100% cotton. The Hello Kitty towel measures 70cm x 140cm (27″ x 55 inches). It is small enough to store in a beach bag and is light in weight which is very handy because you can get the child to carry it! It small size means whilst it is fine for an adult to sit on it's not great to lie on as you will have parts of your body on the sand. It certainly wouldn't dry an adult off.
The girl who won the race was sufficiently wet to get wrapped in the towel and not only did she towel dry quickly, it fitted around her nicely, and the towel dried off quickly in the sunshine. However, the towel is thin which is probably why it dried so quickly!
The Hello Kitty towel cleaned up well on the thirty degree wash but it can be put in at forty degrees. I prefer to have a lower washing machine temperature because of my environmental concerns. I've never bothered to iron this as it really isn't necessary and it does not get creased. The bright pink colour does not run.
However, the towel fabric is looking a bit worse for wear after one year of beach use. The girls loved it and have used it several times but I'm afraid it won't last long into the second year. It's beginning to look tired, threadbare and faded in places. This is a lovey buy as an infrequent use beach towel but don't expect long term use from it. You're buying into a brand which is extremely popular with girls but the quality is short-lived. The other beach towels I own are still going strong after years of use. This towel was bought, I think, for under ten pounds at the end of 2010 or the beginning of 2011. It wasn't bad value for money as it did get used but I do think there are more long lasting towels out there for the girls. At least the demise of the towel will put to an end any more cat fights over Hello Kitty.
