Last year I come across the dotcomgiftshop website when they happened to have a sale on. Lucky really or I would have spent a fortune as everything they sell is lovely. I ended up placing an order bigger than what I imagined and one of the things I ordered were these wooden letters.
The home building block word is £14.95 at full price but I was lucky to get it for £5 in the sale. It is only available to purchase from www.dotcomgiftshop.com and a delivery charge applies.
The building blocks are quite simple really, they are four individual letters that when placed together makes up the word home. Each letter is made out of wood and is roughly 8cm high, 8cm wide and 8cm deep so they are all in proportion. The letters are very light and don't have any kind of weight to them. Each one is a different colour and has a worn effect to the wood making them look quite rustic, even though they are all different colours, when they are put together they all complement each other well.
One thing I like about having the individual letters is that you can arrange them how you want. I had one of those big backed televisions when I first bought these and arranged them side by side on top of the TV and they looked lovely. When the TV eventually got replaced I decided to move them to the window sill and as I was rearranging them I realised I could stack two on top of the other two and now I prefer them to be arranged this way. The possibilities are endless; you can have them wide apart, right together, one on top of the other, whatever way you fancy!
I really love the overall look the letters give as a decorative item; I think they finish off my lounge well. I have a brown colour scheme so it is quite easy to match colours to go with it and the vintage colour of these letters goes with it really well. I think these would also look nice in a hallway or dining room without looking out of place.
Although I love my home word, I don't think I would pay full price at very almost £15. I think that's more to do with the fact that I'm tight and don't particularly like splashing out on decorative items. That being said, they are made to a high standard and look lovely and I think they would look great in most lounges.
