“ Brand: Homebase / Type: Vase „
In one week two friends bought me a bunch flowers. My family and my friends all know of my love of pretty flowers however I didn't own a vase. Well I thought I did and in the end I ended up with gorgeous flowers in plastic tubs or a glass and so when I was in Homebase with a friend recently I remembered my lack of a vase and decided to buy one from there when I saw the small range they had on sale.
The glass vase I own is from the ColourMatch range from Homebase and I bought this in the Poppy Red colour however I could have purchased the Cream option had I wanted to though I bought the red because I have alot of red accessories in my living room which is where I wanted to use this vase in the main.
This vase is very simple to look at which is the reason that I liked it so much. I didn't want anything too fussy and prefer flowers to do the talking anyway!
So in design this has a round base and is quite tall and it has a height of 25cm W13cm and D13cm so it is quite big.
Although its tall it goes a little bit wider to the middle of it slightly giving it a barrel look and of course mine is red and although made of glass you can't see through it and to me is looks plastic due to its shine opposed to looking like its made of glass. Its very smooth and shiny and not too heavy and I find that with say daffodils (I bought myself some last week to cheer myself up!) I found three quite large bunches to fit in with ease and I only had to snip the ends of slightly for them to look wonderful and I did appreciate the yellow against the red too!
I only paid £4.99 for my vase and I have so far found it to be robust and easy to clean with soapy water after using it and all in all I think this is a great buy and very worth the money indeed!
Only available from Homebase.
Ever since we moved into our house I have had a problem with how untidy the wires look behind our TV, the majority of the TV stands now have no proper backs to them which is all very nice until you get the TV, DVD player, Virgin Media Box and Wii plugged in and you end up with what seems like a million different wires behind there which refuse to sit neatly and inconspicuously. I have tried many different things to tidy the wires up and hide them from cable tidies to a large plant sat beside the TV stand which hid the gap down the side and drew your attention away from the wires, however that never did very well there and had to be moved, meaning I was on the look out for something to replace it. Whilst having a look around my local Homebase (for something totally unrelated) I spotted the Inspire Collection Large Glass Vase in Black, it instantly caught my attention, with a tall bunch of twigs inside it, it was perfect for beside my TV, fitting in with the colour scheme in our lounge it was just what I needed.
The Inspire Collection Large Glass Vase is basically what the name suggests a rather tall and oversized vase, it could not be used for flowers as it is far too tall but I did not want mine for flowers. The vase is made from a jet black glass, the glass is not transparent at all giving the black vase an ultra shiny appearance. The glass it is made from is a few millimetres thick, it appears to be reasonably tough but with the glass being a bit on the thin side and the size of the vase I do feel that if it was knocked over with a bit too much force onto a hard surface it may. The whole base has quite a rounded appearance and curves inwards slightly towards the bottom.
The vase as I have said is reasonably large and measures about 50cm high and 17cm in diameter, this is at the widest point of the vase which is towards the top, the bottom part of the vase is a little slimmer and is a few centimetres thinner. When I purchased my vase I also brought a couple of bunches of decorative twigs to put inside it, I had to buy the tallest ones I could in order for them to sit at the correct height, however I still had to screw up some paper and put it in the bottom of the vase for the twigs to sit a bit higher, without it I found that they sat a bit too low down. I had two packets of twigs in my vase and personally I felt this was plenty, however the neck of the vase is rather wide so you could fit a couple more in it depending on your preference.
I purchased my Inspire Collection Large Glass Vase from Homebase and it cost me £19.99, this is a little bit on the expensive side for a vase however personally I feel it is worth the money it is the perfect item to have next to our TV to detract away from the wires behind it, the black glass fits in nicely with our colour scheme and it is a nice decorative piece to have without being too over the top, it would look good in any room. The vase also comes in a dark red coloured glass too.
I would definitely recommend the Inspire Collection Large Glass vase especially in black, it is of a good quality and looks stylish in any room, although it probably wouldn't be a good thing to have with small children around. The height of the vase means that you do need tall items stood in it. I cannot think of anything negative to say about this vase, it was the ideal item to buy and does a good job of hiding the untidy wires behind the TV stand.
