      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A gorgeous throw that transforms a room

While I love shopping for items for my house, I have a natural aversion to Ikea due to the fact that you seem to walk endlessly past flatpack and inevitably buy a load of things you will never, ever use. However I have a futon chair in one of the rooms in my house in which I like to curl up and read. It's cream in colour and was started to look a little more grubby than it used to. As it's non-washable, I decided to get a throw to cover it. As my friend was going to Ikea anyway, I decided to brave Swedish Flatpack Hell and look around for a suitable throw.

The walls of the room my futon chair is in are a bright yellow colour, so I decided that I wanted something in plain black, to match the photo frames that I also have in that room. However my eye was immediately drawn to this Eivor throw.

      THE THROW
This is a 100% acrylic throw, but it doesn't feel scratchy or artificial. Until I looked at the label, I assumed it was some sort of cotton mix. The throw has thick black and white stripes on it and feels very soft, like a jumper almost.

      SIZE
125 X 170cm is the only size available for the Eivor throw. Therefore it would not cover an entire sofa I don't think, but it would be very suitable for draping over the back of one. This would cover an armchair (or a futon chair in my case), or could be set on top of a duvet at the end of the bed.

      USAGE
I think this throw is very unique and can give a chair or duvet an instant twist. While its monochrome colours will match a plain room with similar colours, as I and my yellow walls have found, it also compliments bright primary colours very well. It looks modern and striking

      CARE, WEAR AND TEAR
The label for this throw advises that you wash it at 40 degrees. It also says that you cannot bleach or tumble dry this. You can iron it provided you use a cool iron. Provided you stick to these instructions for care, the throw stays in a good state, and I haven't found it has gone 'bally' or out of shape after I have washed and ironed it. I have found it takes a long time to even need to be washed, so I expect and hope that this will stay in good condition for a very long time.

      PRICE
This costs £15. Due to the quality and soft feel, along with how great the bold pattern looks, I think this price is fantastic - especially considering Ikea sell throws a lot more expensive than this which in my opinion are nowhere near as nice.

      WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS?
I would definitely recommend this. It has given my futon chair, if not the entire room itself, a new lease of life, and I admire it every time I walk past. I would not hesitate to buy this again and I would happily use this in any room of the house if it matched. I'd love it if Ikea brought one out in red and white too, as I would get myself one of those as well!
