      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Not for me or my home, even my old one lol

      When I moved into my old flat from a flatshare there were so many items that I needed for my new home (at that time). With not a massive abundance of money about from shelling out on moving and bonds and things I found myself on a shoestring in a massive Ikea store and I bought this for my then bathroom.

      This cost me less than a pound when I bought it though now looking on the Ikea website this now retails at £1.20, still cheap I'm sure you'll agree for this type of item. I owned this for a very short time and eventually ended up buying myself a decent bath set of mats but for a time this was in my bathroom and eventually ended up as a mat at my front door before getting thrown out!

      What Is It?:

      Its a bathmat and it measures 44 x 67 cm and its oval in shape, well the edges are rounded off and the sides are straight. It has a latex backing to help it absorb moisture and to help it not slip about and it has a huge white care label on it.

      This mat only comes in an off white colour, its thin and the material is a bit like cord to the top of it. It is not absorbent and its slips about which is why cos of it slipping it got moved out of my bathroom as I was scared I'd break my neck on it!

      It looks ok, gets grubby and grotty looking rather quickly though and the only thing I think was good about this was its overall size but apart from that it really isn't very good at all! Bad colour, too thin and slippy you may as well not own a bath mat I think and it really isn't worth anymore than £1.20 a mat in my humble opinion.

      For the money if you fancy it you get what you pay for but nothing more and for a while it did look at least clean and practical but sadly this is not an item I can really recommend. I did wash this on a low setting once or twice which didn't seem to hurt it and allowed it to dry naturally but really....what a colour it got mucky looking so quickly!

      Only available from Ikea stores.

        A great, basic bathmat

        ~~~~~~~~~~
        A cheap choice
        ~~~~~~~~~~
        When we moved house a couple of years ago now, we did the obligatory trip to Ikea to pick up some basic items. One thing we needed was bathmats as our old one was well past it, and we now have an extra en suite bathroom - which is tiny but still needed a mat outside the shower! As these were so cheap and looked like they would do the job, we picked up a couple without too much deliberation!

        The mat is 67cm long by 44cm wide and has a non-slip latex backing. It is also machine washable at 40 degrees. The mat now costs £1.20 although we definitely paid less for it - although I think this is still a pretty decent price.

        Egg-shaped mat!
        ~~~~~~~~~~~
        As you can see from the image above, this mat has a slight oval shape to it - although the sides are straight. And frankly this is about the most exciting thing there is to say about it! This really is a very basic item and if you are looking to make a statement with your bathmat then this is definitely not the right choice for you! It is a slight off-white colour and, for the price, it is actually really quite thick which is a real positive.
        Excellent quality
        ~~~~~~~~~~~
        Getting out of the shower onto this, the mat is soft underfoot and absorbs excess drips really well. We also have one by the bath which my daughter uses, and again it absorbs water really well. We have also had no trips, slips or accidents so despite the very low price it is actually really decent quality. Because it is quite a thick mat, with the latex backing, it doesn't bunch up either - it sits just where you left it! I also find it dries off very well after use.

        This mat has withstood many washes and genuinely shows very little sign of wear and tear despite regular usage.

        ~~~~~~~~
        In summary
        ~~~~~~~~
        So it is not the most exciting bathmat in the world to look at. But in terms of quality, it really is excellent - especially when you consider the low price. I can't really fault this mat and would definitely buy it again. For a basic household essential I would definitely recommend this and the price makes it really affordable. If you've just moved into a new home and need the basics but don't have much cash to spare, then you can't go wrong with this bathmat!
