Ikea Bygel S-Hook
by thehonesttruth
I purchased these hooks to be used in conjunction with the Bygel rail (55cm= £1.50, 100cm =£2, reviewed separately) to turn it from a simple rail into a convenient kitchen storage solution for my pans and accessories.
The hooks, which are S shaped and made of polished stainless steel are 7cm in length at the longest points, ... with half the s curve at each end. You simply slot one end of the curve over the Bygel rail, and hang whatever you want off the other end. It's as simple as that.
The hooks are strong and can take a good weight. I've hung various items from mine, from potato mashers and oven gloves, to some quite heavy pans, and the hooks have never shown any sign of strain. They stay on the rail securely, yet can easily be removed for a quick clean, which is just a case of wiping down.
They come in packs of 10 costing just £1. They are also available in pink, black, red, white and lilac colours at £1 for a 6 pack, but the Bygel rail itself only comes in the steel finish.
For a quick easy way to convert a basic rail into hanging storage, these really can't be bettered. You can of course add and remove hooks easily as needed, so if you wished to go back to a basic rail, or only wanted to use a couple of hooks, it's very flexible.
I very much recommend these hooks and the Bygel shelf itself as a flexible and customisable storage system. 5 stars. Read the complete review |

Ikea Rigga Clothes Rack
by chrisheels
This is another purchase I bought as a student on a low budget when I rented a room that didn;t have any wardrobes provided. It now lives in my spare room as a rack for storing and drying my wesuits.
===The rack===
The rack consists of a white metal frame which provides a bar across the top from which standard ... coathangers can be used to store clothes. Castors on the feet make it simple to move around and ideal for temporary storage on a budget.
===Assembly===
It's from IKEA, so yes it does need assembly. This however is ideal for getting it in the car as I can't imagine fitting a fully built version in my boot. The pack weights around 5kg, so is easy to transport. It is very simple to build using a few screws to fix the crossbars onto the sides followed by pushing the castors into position on the feet (These could be left off it you don;t want it to move, but the feet would need some rubber stopper to prevent damage to the floor.)
The sides are adjustable meaning that the height of the frame can be adjusted to suit your height, providing a hanging height of between 126 cm and 175cm.
===In Use===
The frame is extremely stable when filled up with clothes (which I wasn't expecting).
The frame is 11cm wide and 51cm deep. It fits all my shirts, trousers and suits on the rail (I'd estimate 25 hangers worth of clothes) easily and the two cross bars on the bottom provide some storage for most of my shoes and trainers. Maximum load is stated as 35kg whcih sounds reasonable and means you could hang a small child (not recommended - they scream a lot)from the top bar and it would remain stable.
I have the frame positioned in one place against wall and don't use the casters to move it around much. It does move easily when pushed even when fully loaded, but the castors don't wobble about much when you want it in one place to flick through the hangers.
===Price==
For £11 from IKEA, this is far cheaper than a wardrobe and an ideal choice for those on a budget or needing something temporary. It's solid and adjustable and for the price I believe it to be extremely good value.
===Summary===
Sturdy, simple and stylish clothing storage solution! Great value and highly recommended. Read the complete review |

Ikea Skubb Clothes Organiser
by scooch12
Because of the layout of our bedroom and position of the bed, we bought a triple wardrobe when we changed furniture as it fitted the available space perfectly. It has three cupboards, we both have one of the outer cupboards each, but the middle cupboard fast became a bit of a no man's land - neither of us used it properly and it ended up ... with piles of random things that had no other place to go, just stuffed in and the door closed fast, hoping things wouldn't fall back out!
When we visited Ikea a couple of months ago, we came across the Skubb clothes organiser in the bedroom furniture section. They had it hung up in a wardrobe on the display and although we never measured it, it looked as though it would fit in the cupboard perfectly. Ikea is basically a big shop that you look around and if you see anything you fancy, you can either pick it up there and then (if it's a small item) or jot down the location of the item to be picked up in the warehouse part at the end (if it's a larger item). This item comes folded down very flat and so it can be picked up while walking around the main part of the store, meaning no need to wander aimlessly round the warehouse for hours trying to find it.
At full height it measures 120cm x 35cm x 34cm. It's designed to be a clothes organiser really but ours doesn't hold any clothes, although it would hold quite a lot of folded clothes if we wanted. It comes with two chunky material loops at the top so that it can be attached to the wardrobe rail and has velcro to open and close the loops so you don't have to bother removing the wardrobe rail to attach it. It is designed to just hang down within the wardrobe, giving 5 compartments at full stretch, each about 30cm x 30cm. It is quite wide but not massively so - in a normal sized wardrobe it would probably take up around a third of the wardrobe hanging space. I think they're actually designed for us in their own ikea branded wardrobes, but ours works fine in our non-ikea one.
I use all of the organiser to hold things we don't use everyday, it holds small storage boxes with the 2 for 1 shower gels and other toiletries that I've bought in special offers that we haven't got round to using and all of my photo albums. There is a fair bit of storage. The size of each compartment looks ideal size really for holding shoe boxes to me. It's made of polyester material and feels as though it would be quite easy to wipe clean, although it's not something I've tried. As the organiser is white, I was expecting it to pick up marks very quickly but ours hasn't so I haven't needed to. It is also available in other colours - they had only had the black one in stock apart from white in our local store but there is a purple one also available. There are also lots of other storage options available in the same range if you fancied buying a few different types for a room.
It doesn't quite fit at it's full length in the middle cupboard because of the drawers we have underneath, but it is still very much usable in the gap, it just means the bottom shelf is squashed up a bit to the one above so isn't the full height it's supposed to be. I still get use from this shelf though, I store thin items in it such as birthday cards.
I'm so glad we spotted this on our mooch around Ikea - to me the best thing about it was the price, only £8. This to me, was a great bargain. For very little money, we now we get lots of use out of a space we couldn't use much previously and the area looks so much tidier, a brilliant buy!
