A fantastic air freshener for my car from Jelly Belly.

Last year I got my first ever car. This was obviously something of a special achievement for me after years of declaring that I would never have a car or drive. I got lots of cards from my family and friends when I passed my test as well as some little bits and bobs for my new car including seat covers, a steering wheel cover, some fluffy dice and some air fresheners.

I received a small selection of Jelly Belly air fresheners which I have gradually been working through over the last six months or so. Now I didn't obviously pay for any of these myself but I can see them on Amazon ranging from about £2 upwards which seems like a fair enough price.

When it comes to using these bean shaped air fresheners I find that the packaging is really simple to use. I just rip the cardboard open and then there is a little folded tab on the plastic packaging that I just undo and lift open to remove the air freshener.

When I hang up these air fresheners they have a string loop that is fixed in to the top of the air freshener and this makes it simple for me to loop this around my rear view mirror and then move it so that it is hanging behind the mirror not obscuring its view. It takes me just a few seconds to hang one of these up which is always good.

The smell of these air fresheners is noticeable as soon as they are opened and of course once my car has been closed up overnight they are even more noticeable. The air freshener scents that I have used in my car so far include very cherry, blueberry and tutti frutti. I believe that there are at least three or four other scents available too. I find that the scents are all quite light really in terms of being over powering but the smells are all long lasting too. There hasn't been a scent yet that I haven't enjoyed and the blueberry scented one has been my favourite. I love how when I open the door to my car that it smells fruity and quite fresh inside. I can be quite fussy with fruity fragrances but I did not find any of the scents I have tried so far to be overpowering either when opening the car door or when driving in my car with the windows done up. I have found, in my experience, that these air fresheners last around 8 to 10 weeks before I stop noticing the smell. This is much longer than the other air freshener that I have used in my car too so far which is fantastic.

The air fresheners that I have been using are the 2D card based ones and these smell lovely. I am yet to try the 3D version but I believe that they come in the same scents also and I'm confident they would be nice too. I like that I can coordinate an air freshener to my little blue car if I want to as things like that please me.

In all it is fair to say that I am pleased with the quality of these air fresheners. I like the scents, of the ones I've tried so far, and the price isn't prohibitive for the length of time that the scent lasts for. I feel that around 10 weeks is a very reasonable time for an air freshener, particularly as the car is used every single day, sometimes more than once, and I sometimes have the windows open for the entire journey. I am rating these air fresheners 5 out of 5 stars and I feel that it is obvious why from my review. I love the smell of them and I will definitely use these again in the future, even if I have to pay for them myself this time!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Nice airfreshener, bit expensive.

I kept seeing these air fresheners in peoples cars but hadn't seen them in the shops so when I saw one in Asda for £3 I bought one straight away. I bought the pink coloured one which is meant to be a tutti frutti smell.

The air fresheners are a jelly bean shape and quite flat. They feel like thick rubber so you can bend them slightly and it has 'Jelly Belly' written on it in big white letters. It's a really nice, bright pink colour too so definitely one to buy for the more girly girls. They come in decorated cardboard packaging which you can pull of easily revealing the air freshener and plastic hook to put it on your rear view mirror.

When I opened it the smell hit me straight away. It smelt really nice and sweet. I took it out of the packaging and hooked it onto the rear view mirror easily with the flexible plastic hook. I don't smoke in my car and nobody else does either so the air freshener is just used to provide a pleasent smell rather than mask any odours.

These air fresheners come in a variety of colours, including orange, blue, red and green. They're all different smells so it'd be quite nice to try a different one your other one has run out.

I noticed the smell the first time I got in the car after putting the air freshener up but I couldn't really smell it after I'd been in the car for a while. I think this is just because you get used to the smell though. If I picked someone up or someone leaned into the car to talk to me, they'd comment on the nice smell and my Granddaughter loved the jelly bean design. It's nice and slightly more fun to look at than a cardboard cutout of a tree.

I like this air freshener a lot. Unfortunately, I don't think the smell lasts very long at all. I've had mine for about three months now and the smell had completely gone after about a month. I've kept mine in the car as a decoration until I buy a new one because I still think it looks really nice.

Overall, this air freshener smells beautiful and it's a nice quirky design to have in the car and they've done a nice variety of colours to suit different people. I do think they are quite expensive really, they're £1.98 in Asda now which is less than what I paid a while ago but still more expensive than some of the other designs. I'm sure if you wait they'll go on offer though!! Definitely have a smell even if you don't try one as they smell divine.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A nice quirky air freshener for the car that smells lovely.

When I first got my car it was a wreck, it had been sat in my friends driveway for a year waiting to be fixed ready to drive and the inside had some mould in it with the bottom of the car on the passenger side being soaking wet. I cleaned the inside and bought covers for the seats as well as keeping the floor as dry as possible however the musky scent still remained and I found it difficult to try for the first couple of weeks with the windows up as it smelt so bad and so when I saw the Jelly Belly air freshners in my local Asda for just £2 I decided to give one a try.

Firstly the air freshener is 3D and looks exactly like a jelly bean just on a bigger scale, mine came looking a little different from the picture in that it was held in a blister type pack which had the cardboard surrounding it. It was extremely easy to open and didn't require scissors to get inside. At the top of the jelly bean there was a plastic hook to allow it to be hung up on the rear view mirror. I found it fitted perfectly and hung well. The jelly bean I bought was bubblegum flavour and was a lovely pink colour, somewhat clashing with my red car but I didn't care the scent was divine. I think aesthetically these are lovely yet quirky and are suitable for both male and female drivers.

There are a variety of scents available, I think there are around 7 in total which can be purchased both on and offline in a variety of retailers. The regular selling price of these is £3 but they can often be found of offer at 2 for £5 or £2 each so worth shopping around for.

So how does it smell? Well after having 3 different air fresheners in the car it still had the musty smell to it and it was driving me mad however they were cheap fresheners and so with this one being more expensive and having rave reviews I thought it would be worth giving it a try and what do you know it worked, after a week the horrible smell had gone and now my car smells like a regular car. The smell was instantly detectable once it was out of the packaging, it was sweet and fruity, it was strong but not overpowering, I found it was lovely and gave a nice subtle scent throughout the car. For the next couple of weeks I found the scent to be detectable on getting inside but it was starting to waver and become much less pungent, by about the third week there was no scent left radiating around my car, I do still have it hung up as I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to air fresheners, I currently have a stick on one on the dashboard, 2 small vent ones, and 3 on my rear view mirror, the jelly belly one does still have a fragrance when you sniff it directly but it no longer spreads the scent round the car which is a bit disappointing, I would really have liked to have found one that lasted a great amount of time, of course 2 weeks isn't too bad but I would still have preferred it to last longer especially for the price.

Overall this is a really good air freshener, it does the job makes the car smell nice and looks nice, not only that but it is widely available and pretty affordable so I will give it 4 stars, it looses one for the non lasting scent which is disappointing.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      not good value

I smoke in my car (but not in my house) so it often ends up smelling like stale smoke which is horrible so I use air fresheners to attempt to keep it smelling fresh. One of my more recent buys was a Jelly Belly air freshener which I got from Asda when it was on offer for £2, the usual price is around £3. I chose the tangerine fragrance since I love the scent of oranges but other flavours are available including cherry and pear.

The air freshener is more attractive than the good old magic tree, it is in the shape of a jelly bean and is 3d and about a cm thick. I have always thought of Jelly Belly as being a teenage brand since the produce things like bath sets and lip glosses but it does not look out of place in my car. The plastic hanging hook is good quality and it has stayed attached to my mirror with no problems.

The most important part of the air freshener is the scent and the tangerine scent was really nice for the short time it lasted. It was a nice fresh and fruity smell, slightly sweet and sugary more than tangy orange but nicer than stale smoke. The problem was that the fragrance did not last for very long at all, for a few days the smell was almost overpowering when I got into my car but after a week or so it faded away to nothing and I was left with an orange jelly bean shaped decoration.

I won't be buying any more of the Jelly Belly air fresheners because even if they are on special offer they do not provide good value for money sue to how short a time they last.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Good value and a nice scent

I recently bought a jelly belly air freshener for the car. My intention was to try and cover up the smell of damp that has been building up in the car from transporting wet wetsuits, surfing and scuba diving gear around. As a kid I loved jelly belly jellybeans (island punch being my favourite) and thought that the idea of something that smells similar was a good one.

        ----The Air freshener---
The air freshener consists of a cardboard cutout in the shape of a jelly bean (appropriate for the jelly belly brand) and has a loop of elastic string for securing it in place. The cardboard cutout is similar in size to other air fresheners and the string is easy to use. I have put it out of the way of the windscreen down the dashboard of my car.
I got the very cherry scent but have seen it available in tutti-frutti, blueberry, tangerine, pear and bubblegum. There may be others available but i didn't see them in the shop.
The smell is quite nice, the cherry smell is easy to identify and quite sweet. It is quite a stronng smell which I am sure is good for most people and will mask unpleasant smells well, or just make the car smell good.
My experience is that the smell is not strong enough to mask the damp smell in my car, but this is quite a strong smell and I am sure that a bit of airing and maybe 2 or 3 jelly belly air fresheners would do the job. I fully intend to buy some more and check this out at some point in the future as offering people a lift is becoming an embarrasment.

        -----Price---

The Jelly belly air freshener sells for £2.38 on amazon, which I think is quite reasonable. I think I paid about £2 in asda but this may have been on offer. It is a good smell and I think the air freshener is worth the full price as the scent does last a considerable amount of time.

        ---Summary---

It's good value and a pleasant smell, but no competition for my wet scuba gear. I'll knock one star off because I need to get something industrial strengh for my needs!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Nice quirky and fresh smelling car freshener

I love to keep my car smelling fresh, so I always ensure I have an air freshener in there. I tend to prefer fruity smells so when I came across the Jelly Bean range in Halfords, I just had to try it.

They cost in the region of £4 each, which is a little expensive compared to other car fresheners however I have found that the fragrance from these is not as overpowering and they seem to last a good few months. The air fresheners are available from most large supermarkets, Amazon and direct from the manufacturer.

The air freshener itself is in the shape of a large jelly bean and look like it is filled with a bright coloured liquid. On one side, it has the company logo on in white writing. Like most car air fresheners, it has a piece of string hanging from one end so that you can hang it where you like. As soon as you remove from the packaging, the sweet juicy fragrance 'hits you' (I would say try and touch the bean itself once removed from the packaging as little as possible otherwise the fragrance does transfer to your hands). My other half commented he felt the fragrance was a little too sweet however I love sweet smells so we had to disagree on this one.

These are several different fragrances available, Very Cherry, Juicy Pear, Tangerine, Blueberry, Tutti Frutti and Bubblegum. You can also buy aerosol air fresheners in the same fragrances. I have only tried the blueberry fragrance but will definitely be trying the others soon.

Overall, I would give 4 out of 5 stars as they are slightly more expensive than other air fresheners on the market.

          Thanks for reading.

            Disadvantages

Awesome looking, smelling and reasonably long lasting Air Freshener!

I like to have an air freshener in my car, not because it smells bad but purely because I like to have different scents in there when I open the door. Since I started driving many years ago I've had and bought many many many different air fresheners, for my car, for friends car's when they've had new ones and a lot for my ex-boyfriends car - but that's a whole other story.

            ~*~ Jelly Belly ~*~

Yes that's right it's the makers of the amazing tasting jelly beans - they make air fresheners, in two different sorts. They make the spray that you spray in your car to make it smell good, and the traditional air freshener that you can hang up in your car and leave in to keep the scent in your car for a bit longer than having to spray it every time you get in.

            ~*~ Available Smells ~*~

You can get the hanging air freshener in:
Very Cherry - a red bean
Juicy Pear - a green bean
            Tangerine - an orange bean
            Blueberry - a blue bean
            Tutti Frutti -a pink bean
Bubblegum - a neon pink bean

~*~ What's it like as an airfreshener? ~*~

Ok for a starter getting it out of the packet is normally a bit of an ordeal because it's fine ripping the cardboard off the sides but inside that you've got a plastic packaging to get it out of - that only opens on one corner and you have to pull a tab to get the edges to lift. It drives me mad, can't seem to get the hang of it for some reason and every time I get one I end up with plastic sticking into my finger somewhere. They should come with a health warning! That's my warning for everyone anyway!

Once you get it out of the packet, you need to open up the hook to hold it on to wherever you are going to attach it. Remember to snap the connector on the hook though, because (I swear I'm just stupid at times!) I have on many occasions forgotten and tried to ram it on my rear view mirror and wondered why on earth it wouldn't go on and got very frustrated with the thing! Until I've looked at it and realised what I've forgotten to do, other than that it'll secure to your car beautifully, as long as it's not somewhere it can slip off. As I tried to put mine on a hook that was connected to one of my hand rails in the back of the car; only took one corner and it was on the floor. So decided because the hook is so big it's probably better placed on my rear view mirror.

The smell is instantaneous as soon as you open the packet, initially it's not that strong - but once you leave it say over night, open your car door and the scene hits you really hard. I use the blueberry one, and it's a lovely smell to open your car door too, especially when it's been hot, and the scent is warmed up. It's not massively over powering after the first time you open up your car, it's just that first scent that makes you know you've got it in your car! I've come out of the car in summer months smelling more like my air freshener than I do my own perfume, so make sure if you have one that you like smelling like it in the summer when it's beautifully warm. Ok so the air freshener will last a few months in your car, it depends how much you're in it as to how fast all the smell goes I've found. As with my last one I was in the car everyday driving miles to get to uni and the smell faded pretty fast, then when I was only using the car three days a week the smell lasted a few weeks longer. On average mine have last between eight and twelve weeks, but for three pound a pop it's not bad really!

I like how these things look as well they are a giant 3D jelly bean! Beware though if you touch the bean it does make your fingers smell like your chosen scent - and the problem being the bean has a not quite sticky but a texture that makes you want to touch it... (I know I'm weird!) Sitting in the front of my car it looks fab matching my blue interior, the blueberry one I have now has a bit of special meaning now as well, because second time I meant my boyfriend I pulled up behind his car and we had the same blueberry jelly belly air freshener attached to our rear view mirrors.. Not that's got a bearing on how good they are, it just means I always get two now just in case he needs a new one!

            ~*~ Price and Availability ~*~

I normally get mine in Asda when they're on offer for two for £5 one for me one for the fella, but normally they are £3 or £4 depending on what offer they feel like... If you buy them from the Jelly Belly website they are £3.49, with postage and on Amazon you can get them for 1p but the postage does vary so you're probably better getting them when you are shopping, save waiting for them to come through the post!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

I have tried many car air fresheners but the one I always go back to are Jelly Belly's.

The first time I saw these Jelly Belly car air fresheners was sometime last year in Asda. They have a 'scratch n sniff' sticker on them and so I was scratching and sniffing them all and immediately wanted one for my car, hoping that their scent was exactly like what I had sniffed on their packaging.

They have a few scents to choose from including blueberry, tangerine, very cherry and juicy pear. However last week I noticed they had brought new scents out, these being bubblegum and tutti frutti.

I usually love orange scented things and so thought that tangerine would appeal to me the most, however the blueberry one seemed very stong and so I chose that one instead. As soon as I bought it and got back to my car I opened it and straight away the scent hit me, it was very stong, but nice! I loved how everytime I got in my car I got a strong fruity whiff. It lasted ages too, unlike other car air fresheners do. A couple of weeks later I could still smell the blueberry and after about a month it started to fade. However, it might have just been me getting used to the scent as others who got in my car would always comment on the smell, even though I could no longer smell it.

Therefore I would say one of these will last around a month, which is a lot longer than others that I have used, which are often a let down after about a week!

I have since bought the very cherry and the juicy pear ones, but have still yet to try tangerine. That will be the next one I buy! In my experience all flavours last around the same amount of time and all smell lovely. But if you are not sure then you can always 'scratch n sniff' first and see if the scent is to your liking, as they do smell exactly the same as the sticker on the packaging.

I bought mine from Asda for £2, it was reduced from £3 which is its usual price. I have often seem them in an offer at two for £5 but I usually look out for when they are only £2 and buy one then.

                Disadvantages

                .

I have just put 1 of these in my Car and so far I quite like it. I wouldn't say it is perfect in anyway as there is 1 thing that particularly annoys me about this, but we will get to this later.

I always seen this for sale in Asda's and the 4 scents that this range comes in were for sale. You can kind of smell this before you buy it as there is a tiny scratch and sniff part on the bit cardboard, but it is mostly Cardboard that you smell anyway so you don't get the true scent.

This is quite expensive at £3 for 1 of these, but it is currently on Asda Rollback price for £2 just now which swayed me to buy it. I normally use Yankee Candle Car Jars and they cost me £3.98 for 3 when I buy online so even this at £2 is that bit expensive. I still wanted to try them and after using the Tangerine one then I realised that the scent lasted a good enough lenght of time so was perhaps worth a little treat.

The Freshener is in the shape of a Jelly Bean and you can see this through the cardboard sleeve bit as the middle part is a plastic bit. I was expecting this to feel quite Jelly like, but it has a kind of Waxy feel to it. Also an annoying this is trying to get into this as the plastic part is sealed so you have to cut into this and there isn't much space in here with the Bean filling up the case thing.

When you open this you get a nice Juicy scent of the Pear. This smells pretty real smelling and not a fake kind of scent. It smells really nice. I still probably prefer the Tangerine scent but this 1 is pretty nice anyway.

So what is the annoying bit? Well the bit that you clip around your Mirror in order to hang this from your Interior mirror is Plastic and not the usual bit of elastic. This is good in the way that it holds the Bean in place and it doesn't twirl round and round but the plastic rubs against the plastic holding the Mirror and you get an annoying scratching sound now and again as this rubs together. So annoying to hear now and again.

So yes this is a nice scent from a good brand, but just lose the plastic bit please?

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

Nice but not worth the price

Whilst doing my weekly food shop I found myself in the air freshner aisle and decided to buy a car air freshner to remove the stale smell of my boyfriends dirty football boots.

The Jelly Belly air freshner immediately caught my eye with it's bright lime green giant jelly belly shape and it's bright packaging. I picked it up and had a good smell. Even through the plastic packaging I could smell the delicious pear scent, which is just the same as the sweet flavour. Yum Yum.

The only thing that put me off was it's £3 price tag! A bit pricy for a car air freshner and probably the most expensive in the shop but I decided to treat myself.

I hung it up on my mirror with it's simple plastic hook design and pushed it behind the mirror as I didn't want it to distract me. The smell took over my car immediately.

For the first week it was a joy getting into my car on a morning, and throughout the day. The smell was so delicioius and fruity fresh like the first time I opened it.

However, after a week I stopped noticing the scent. I could smell it occassionally and I found myself smelling the product to see if the scent was still there, which it was, I just couldn't smell it in the car.

Overall, I loved the scent and the first week of use was just bliss. However, for the price tag I'd expect the scent to last a lot longer so therefore I probably wouldn't buy this again.
