~~~~THE REDOUTE CLASSIC ROSE COLLECTION-'LUXURY SMALL TRAY WITH HANDLES'~~~~
This item comes from the Redoute Classic Rose Collection. It is known as a 'Luxury Small Tray with Handles' or as a 'Sandwich Tray.'
This tray was purchased by my youngest daughter as part of her Mother's day gift to me. She presented this tray to me along with the Redoute Classic Rose Sugar Bowl and Creamer set (packaged in a lovely oval box) as it is a part of this delightful homeware collection.
The crockery in this set is made of Fine china but the tray is made of rigid plastic.
The tray comes in a white background with a pastel design upon it, showing the design of Pierre-Joseph Redoute's, 'Choix des plus Belles Fleurs' from his work of 1827. The base shows two rose stems either side of the famous Kew Gardens Pagoda. One stem is heavy with two flowers in full bloom and some still in bud. The other stem shows a single pink rose and leaves upon the stem. I noticed that the large tray shows the butterfly which also can be seen on the creamer and sugar bowl but the butterfly is absent from the small tray/sandwich server. As with other items from the range the stamp of The Royal botanical Gardens of Kew can be seen.
I find the tray is light in itself yet it still feels sturdy and these features make it ideal when one or two items are carried on it.
This small tray (a large tray is also available) or sandwich server is rectangular in shape and measures approximately 38cm x 20.5cm.
To make carrying easier the tray is nicely rimmed. Each end has an incorporated handle, of a good size to fit fingers into when carrying it; these are strong and comfortable when used.
The Redoute tray is an ideal shape to serve sandwiches from (cucumber sandwiches anyone?) Or it is also ideal to carry a few items upon it. It is large enough to carry the creamer, sugar bowl and more but not a full tea set. I think it is ideal for tea for one or can carry a tea pot, sugar bowl and milk/cream jug. Alternatively two mugs with the bowl and jug could just about be managed.
I am planning to enlarge upon this collection. I was thinking of having a posh tea for two sometimes during the summer and then I would probably prefer to use this tray for sandwiches or savouries and would also by then have added the cake stand to the collection and then we could have scones with strawberry jam and cream with our tea and sandwiches.
This tray is wipe clean and food safe.
It is designed in England by Creative Tops.
