There is nothing better in this weather than being outdoors, topping up your tan (wearing a decent SPF!!) and tending to your Garden or in my case Allotment. As we, my Husband and I, live in a flat, we don't have a garden, we have a concrete walkway which we naturally place pots of flowers to make it a little prettier than it would otherwise look, but we have no grass, no fence, no trees and so on.
I have always loved growing things, it stems back to visiting my Granddad when I was much younger and going into his homemade Greenhouse and seeing all of his tomato plants in the sunshine and ever since I become a home owner, growing tomatoes is something I have always done. I love the smell of them, I love tomatoes but it wasn't enough to grow them and nothing else. I branched out and started growing potatoes in grow bags, cucumbers and so on. Then we were lucky enough to get our allotment plot and haven't look back since.
Whilst having an allotment has its plus points, most of which I have written about in plenty of other reviews, there are some downsides. We had our shed broken in to and with it went all of our tools that we had stored there, even my knee pads which I bought from a High Street Store, nothing high tech they were just really useful got stolen and because of that I recently bought a newer model and design of the knee pads I had from an online Gardening shop where I buy some of my seeds and what's more exciting is that they had a offer on the purchase price at the time and I bought two for £20. When it arrived through the post it had no extra packaging and useless box, it was simply a polythene bag which could be recycled.
When you are pulling out weeds, planting bulbs, planting seeds, digging out roots it is sometimes impossible to stand up and bend down the whole time especially when I suffer with a bad back anyway, I find it really painful and uncomfortable to keep doing it. So I was introduced to 'KneeloTM' a product which was recommended to me by a colleague who has a garden to die for.
I had never heard of a KneeloTM but after some searching online, I found out that the KneeloTM is marketed as being "Ultra-cushion kneeler with memory foam technology" So already the initial thought is thank god it will be comfortable. Then when my own Union Jack version arrived the accompanying blurb said:
"KneeloTM is comfortable, practical, lightweight and easy to carry. Generously sized, with contoured edges, KneeloTM allows you to work in cushioned comfort for prolonged periods of time. Whether you are gardening, decorating, scrubbing the floor or at a picnic, don't forget your KneeloTM"
So already I have everything I am looking for in one product and not only can I use it for gardening on the allotment but I can also bring it home because it is ideal for when I am cleaning and scrubbing the floor or skirting boards or wherever I need to kneel down or sit down.
To look at the simplest way of describing it is to me it looks like a toilet seat. It is rounded like a toilet seat except with the added bonus of having a section with a handle which allows carrying this KneeloTM a really simple task. It is also very lightweight to carry and the handle also makes it easy to store because I hang it on the coat hook which we have on the back of the shed door. It is also quite thin compared to the description given as to have thick it will be with the deep layer of shock absorbing EVA foam which is then surrounded by the cushioning of memory foam and then added to that this KneeloTM is then encased in a layer of waterproof but durable neoprene before it is finally wrapped in a quick dry, wipe clean, nylon cover, all of which is clearly described to you on the tags which are fastened to the handle of the KneeloTM . I had to look up what 'neoprene' was because I didn't know and it turns out to be synthetic rubber which you might find used on covers for items such as Macbooks, Kindles and so on, it's a protective cushion basically.
When it comes to using your KneeloTM you simply place it on the floor, ground or wherever you are using it and kneel or sit on it. I know that does sound really obvious but it is that simple. When I first used my KneeloTM TM over a month ago now whilst weeding on my allotment, I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it was to use. In the past I had bought a Garden Kneel pad from a High Street store for around £4 which was simply made of a sponge foam and whilst it was useful, it wasn't as comfortable as the KneeloTM and whilst it does cost between £14 and £20 online, which is a lot more, it is much more durable and comfortable. The one problem we have with the Allotment are bramble weeds which are really sharp and then we have a lot of stones and pebbles which make life really painful if you kneel on them, with the KneeloTM it solves all your problems because you kneel on them and you can't feel them as much. The plus side is also that as soon as you need a rest or a sit down, you can use your KneeloTM as a seat to sit on which again when using in this way proves to be really comfortable.
When your KneeloTM gets dirty, I have managed to hand wash it really successfully and allowed it to dry and it is as good as new and just as comfortable to use as it was beforehand. I love my KneeloTM not only do I use it to kneel and sit on down the allotment, but when I am cleaning the floor and skirting boards I use it to kneel and sit on as well and either way of using it provides comfort and support and I absolutely love using it for that very reason.
Summary: A cushioned knee pad for gardening, decorating, sitting on and so on...
