LAKELAND MAKE UP CADDY
Make up storage is perhaps one of the most important aspects of organisation in a modern bedroom as sometimes products can become untidy. A drawer is often used, and this can be a perfect solution, but the Lakeland Make Up caddy offers a neat and simple alternative to keep a dressing table free from clutter, whilst still allowing easy access to items.
I find the mornings to be a time when being organised really helps in the task of getting ready with minimum stress. I like to know where everything is, and be able to access items quickly. The idea of a Lakeland Make Up Caddy really appealed to me, as I thought I could store items on my dressing table that I was currently using. So at the moment the caddy offers a brilliant place to store my summer moisturisers and face products together with my make up items.
The caddy comes in two colours black and cream. I have the black shown above, which I believe has just been discontinued, but you may find one in the stores as it was recently in the sale. The cream version retails for £14.99 and is probably my favourite of the two, but I found that the black suited my colour scheme better at the time. The caddy measures 20 x 16 x 15cm H. (8" x 6½" x 6"). and consists of various compartments which are of a good size, some elasticated holders for mascaras or concealers, and also a very useful little drawer which I use for my sharpener, tweezers and lip-cote. There is also a baby version that you can purchase, ideal if you have a small space or small make up collection. The caddy has an integral handle making it ideal for carrying from one place to another.
In my opinion the item is very well made, and is robust and attractive to look at. There has been great attention to detail in that the makers have thought about the nature of the products women are most likely to have in their daily collection. There is ample space to store all of the basic products that you would need to do a full make up, and skin care routine. I have more make up than would fit in here, but I use it as a place to put the items I am using at the time, so for example at the moment it houses a BB cream, summer foundation, moisturiser with SPF, mascaras, lip pencils, lipsticks, gloss, and blusher, bronzer, a couple of eye shadows and skin care products. There are even spaces for brushes too. They all fit in neatly and I swap items in and out according to what I am wearing, and the colours I want to use, but the basic collection fits well in the caddy and forms the framework of my make up for the season. If you look at the picture you can see half of the caddy, the other half is obscured by the handle, but there is as much space behind again but without the brush holder section.
This purchase was something I had considered for a long time - I had seen the product in a store and pondered, but it didn't seem to say "buy me" as it just looked too simple and understated. I think it is probably the simplicity that really ultimately spoke to me, and made me purchase, and I am so glad I did as it really is a very useful item. I sometimes take it away with me if I am going overnight in the car somewhere, as it sits nicely in a travel bag and lifts out onto a hotel room surface and is then ready for use. I don't tend to do this often, as I have a lovely make up bag for this, but for visiting my family I will take it as it makes taking my make up simple and easy. It is also great if you want to do your make up somewhere else for a change, such as in another room, as it lifts effortlessly and can be replaced anywhere ready for use.
Reviewers on the Lakeland website say that they award it 5* and many use theirs as a TV remote holder with the sections for pens, nail items, and pampering treats so they can sit there in the evening in front of the TV and attend to their beauty regimes. One even said she puts her favourite chocolate bar in the drawer- a brilliant idea!
I must say that I haven't seen anything similar on the market that is so well made and so easy to use.
I think these make lovely Christmas gifts, and certainly the cream version has an understated look that would co-ordinate with any colour scheme.
I think Lakeland have some really fantastic storage solutions and this one certainly impresses me. I think it is an ideal place to store make up and skin care products making them quick and easy to find. It is just then a question of taking a couple of items from the caddy after use- lipstick and maybe a blush, and placing in my handbag for the day to keep my make up fresh and touched up.
A quality product in my opinion that you can purchase online at www.lakeland.co.uk or in one of their many stores.
Summary: A high quality item that is an asset to any bedroom storage scheme.
