I didn't actually realise this product was in the Dooyoo catalogue, otherwise I would have reviewed it before now, as I (or my daughter rather!) have had this bauble for two years, and in fact this will actually be her third Christmas with it hanging on the tree. THis beautiful Christmas bauble is from Mamas and Papas, and currently costs just under £7 at full price. This is a ;My 1st Christmas Bauble' to be given to a newborn or young child on their first Christmas and it was one set of grandparents that gave my daughter this gift when she was four months old and had no clue about Christmas, but I knew it would be something she would appreciate with each year, especially when like this year, she will be able to hang it on the tree herself.
This particular bauble with has various shades and designs of pink is obviously designed for a girl, but there is a blue designed identical bauble for boys. I love the fact that that bauble is handpainted and it is written on the front the year given, so my daughter's has 2011 on the front of it, which in my view makes it even more personal. This bauble also comes with a beautiful keepsake box to keep this glass bauble safe throughout the rest of the year when not being used, and that is exactly where my daughter's is at present, inside this keepsake box with the other Christmas decorations just waiting until December comes! My daughter received a couple of other first Christmas items for her first Christmas but none have the colour, design and uniqueness of this bauble and don't compare at all.
THe decoration on this bauble is, as I mentioned, based on girly pink colours, with different shades being used. To make this particularly girly there are painted pictures of a little girl, wrapped up for the winter and playing in the snow. This is slightly different from the 2013 version which is still very girly, but featuring fairies.
I can't wait to let my little girl put this up on the tree this Christmas, especially since she will understand and appreciate decorating a tree etc this year. I can explain to her this year about the significance of the bauble and that it is her little keepsake for the tree.
All in all, if you are looking for a gift for a young baby/mother, this is a brilliant, beautiul, unique CHristmas gift for them and their child to cherish for a long time. I know I will!
My daughter was 9 months old at the beginning of December and showing no signs of crawling - so I put up the Christmas tree...
I originally bought a red My first christmas bauble from Mamas and Papas, same size and quality as this one, but red and more gender neutral, I saw the pink one on the website but opted for red as I thought it would suit our room more. Needless to say, the Christmas tree was pulled down, luckily I was underneath (as was said baby) at the time so could hold it up until help (AKA husband) arrived. Although there was no exterior sign of trauma or a christmas tree phobia the mamas and papas bauble bit the dust. Sob.
Fastforward to last weekend, we were in Mamas and Papas in Staines and thought I'd see if they had any left - well it'll only be her first christmas once - and lo they did. They had red ones and pink ones all for a bargain of £2 (paid £8 originally) - the pink one looks a lot prettier in the flesh that I thought it would (although it no longer matches the red stocking I also bought from m and p!) and even husband approved. So we bought the pink one.
It's now tucked up in it's excellent quality box, don't know if I'll be brave enough to get it out next christmas - maybe I'll just take it out and admire it from time to time, like people who leave the plastic coating on their sofas.
Now all I need to do is work out a reason to buy one for 2010...
Last year my sister--in-law wanted to decorate her Christmas tree in pink, but for whatever reason it didn't happen. However, this year she now has a beautiful baby daughter and a great reason for having a girly pink decorated Christmas tree!
My Auntie had already given them a Baby Girl pink bauble, but when I spotted this Pink My First Christmas Bauble in a Mamas & Papas shop, I just had to buy it!
It's a large glass bauble which has been hand painted in a couple of different pinks (a light pink and a deep pink), with a picture of a girl wearing angel wings and some stars. The lovely finishing touch to the bauble is the words "My First Christmas 2009" painted in gold. There is also a white ribbon attached to the gold loop at the top. The beautiful bauble comes carefully packaged in a matching gift box.
The bauble was originally £8, but I bought it from Mamas & Papas in Birmingham's Bull Ring Shopping Centre for £6 and it's currently listed on the Mamas & Papas website for the same price.
I thought this Christmas bauble looked great and would hang beautifully on my sister-in-law's Christmas tree and she now has the incentive to go out and get lots of pink decorations (much to the dismay of my brother, I'm sure!). There's no doubt it's one of the larger baubles on their tree, but it's not overly sized.
As this "My First Christmas 2009" bauble is so beautiful and comes in a lovely gift box, I'm sure this is something which will be treasured for some time and may come out at other Christmases too. I would certainly say that it's a good buy and my sister-in-law loved it when I gave it to her! In fact, it's now hanging proudly on their Christmas tree!
Don't worry if you have a baby boy or are expecting a baby and you don't know what it's going to be, because Mamas & Papas also do "My First Christmas 2009" baubles in blue and in red, and they look just as good.
(I'm sure Mamas & Papas will do these in 2010 too as I think they're great!).
