“ Brand: Matalan / Type: Lunch Bag „
My son has developed an obsession with buses. On Christmas morning, he was delighted open a present from his Granna and Papa Boo which contained this lunch bag. He was needing a lunch bag as his last one had gone walkies so he was very pleased indeed. My parents definitely made a good choice with this lunch bag.
~The Lunch Bag~
This lunch bag is perfect for taking to nursery or school. It is made from a wipe clean material (20% PVC and 80% nylon with a 100% PEVA lining. The bag itself is a good size measuring 23 x 18 x 9 cm. The main body of the bag is a pale blue colour with red trim. The main design is on the front of the bag and consists of bus, truck and car illustrations and a pouch.
Other features of this lunch bag include a long handle for you child to wear it across their body. There is a name label on the base to ensure you childs lunch bag is identified. This bag also features a drinking bottle which slots into a netted part at the side of the bag. The main part of the bag is accessed via a zip which runs 3/4 of the way around the entire bag.
~Price and Availability~
This lunch bag and bottle is exclusive to Matalan and www.matalan.co.uk. It is priced at £8.50.
My son was very pleased to receive this as a gift. When I asked my Mum about it, she said that she had spotted it whilst out shopping and knew that it would be an instant hit with my bus-loving child. The lunch bag is definitely eyecatching and is a little different from the usual Cars or Thomas the Tank lunch bags/boxes that most children at the nursery have. It looks quite unique and my son is very proud to carry it to nursery and show it off.
This lunch bag is the perfect size for nursery or school in my opinion. My son needs to take a lunch to nursery twice a week and will often take this bag out with him with snacks in it on other days. The bag is well made and of a high quality. It is well stitched and smooth to the touch. It looks really cool and my son loves the fact that there is a large, curvy looking double decker on the front pouch. The design is simple yet cool and would appeal to most children who like cars and buses.
This lunch bag is very practical in terms of design and size. The zip is easy to open yet sturdy and my son is able to open his lunch bag easily himself. The inside of the bag feels quite padded and secure but looks narrow. The material is quite flexible and despite it not looking very big inside, it is a tall bag and can accommodate my sons packaged lunch perfectly fine. My son is a fussy eater but does like to have a good selection of bits and bobs in his lunch bag. We can easily fit some wrapped sandwiches, a little bowl with some cocktail sausages, crisps or crackers and a banana. There is also room for a small yoghurt and spoon.
There are no claims that this lunch bag keeps food cool. Boos nursery teacher pops the bag in the fridge in the morning usually but when we have been out an about, I do find that food keeps at a nice temperature inside the bag. It feels quite insultated due to the padding. The bag is very easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth and doesn't hold on to any smells or stains. It is a very easy to maintain lunch bag.
The pouch at the front of the bag comes in handy for storing my sons eye patch for taking to nursery. The shoulder strap is very long and cannot be adjusted. This is fine for us as my 4.5yr old son is quite tall for his age but it may hang quite low on a smaller child. The strap is stitched on well and remains secure and well attatched despite regular use. My son finds it very easy to pop this over his shoulder and across his body for taking to nursery. It is lightweight even when full and sits fine on the way to nursery.
My son doesn't need to take juice or water to nursery but the bottle has been well used for when we are out and about or in our house. The bottle is made of see through, blue plastic and is a sports type bottle which my son likes. It holds quite a lot of liquid but I am careful not to fill it up too much as the lid sometimes doesn't full close and occasionally leaks a little. The bottle when filled does add extra weight to the lunch bag which causes it to tip to the side a little especially if the rest of the lunch bag is empty. It isn't a major issue though.
I would say that this lunch bag is well worth the £8.50 cost. It looks good so my son is proud to carry it around and show it off at nursery. It is very practical to use and the quality of the materials used is top notch. It looks as good as new. I would highly recommend this any to anyone looking for a nice lunch bag for a bus fan.
