Advantages: Sturdy, well made, easy clean
Disadvantages: £6 a bit steep for each one
A while ago I had to buy new canisters as I had some red brick ones but broke one and couldn't find a replacement. While wandering around Matalan, I came across this set of Tea, coffee and sugar canisters in cream. They are quite plain, which I like, they have a rugged feel about them. The sides have a wobbly texture and because it makes them not look 100% perfect, they are perfect for me.
The lid is a wooden circle, but being airtight is a bonus, we don't drink coffee ourselves anymore so the coffee we buy is just used for guests. If coffee stays out of a airtight container for any length of time it can go stale so thats another reason these are perfect. Each one has the word coffee, tea or sugar moulded on the front, the cream is a lovely colour as it matches my worktops, and the wooden lids match our kitchen lino. Each one of these pots is £6 each which I think is a little steep but they are quite heavy and are very study.
They are ceramic so need to be handled relatively carefully; I don't want to be dropping these ones on the floor. Although at least you can buy these separately, so if you do drop one, you don't have to replace the whole set. These are hand wash only, which isn't a problem; I wouldn't want to put these in a dishwasher anyway. I have washed mine out a few times just to keep them clean, the outsides I wipe over every day, I do find that any spills or marks do show up on these as they are cream, but a quick wipe over with a damp cloth isn't that much of a hardship.
Due to breaking one of these as well, (yes I am accident prone), I have opted for metal cannisters as these wont break so easily.
Summary: Great buy
