“ Brand: Me To You „
When I was a little younger and in my teens, I used to love the brand Me to You and all of their Tatty Teddy range. They sell various things which make lovely gifts such as figurines, teddies, keyrings and photo frames. Although I am not usually into purchasing things such as figurines, I just couldn't resist picking up this cute one. Since I purchased this a good few years ago, I remember paying for it with my pocket money. I loved all things Me To You, and although some of my little bits and bobs seem to have disappeared over time, this gorgeous figurine has stuck in my room.
I remember that this did not cost much money. It was definitely under £10, I would guess around the £7 mark which is fairly good for a branded item such as this. I purchased it from Argos around eight years ago. Usually Me to You figurines are stocked in shops such as Argos, as well as in greetings cards shops such as in Clintons. I often see the range in local gift shops too, as they make a really nice present to others. Unfortunately, this lovely figurine is no longer made, and on the website states that it was made retired in 2005. It was only introduced in 2004, so I was quite lucky to get my hands on it. Do check out eBay though as there are some on there.
The figurine is exactly as shown on the image. It is a lovely little teddy bear around two to three inches in height. This is quite a small figurine, but big enough to make an impression. Most people know of the famous Tatty Teddy, which is this particular teddy. He is well known for his blue nose, and still seems to be just as popular nowadays. The figurine is made from hand painted resin, and the quality and attention to detail is just fantastic. The wonderful detailing gives the fur looking affect on the bear, despite being a hard figurine. The bear has patches on it, and one of my favourite things about him is his little feet. The feet as you can see are a lighter shade of grey. This is because they are soft to touch and made of a velvet/felt material.
The bear in itself is lovely, but as each figurine is slightly different it has to have something unique about it. As you can see, this is called the 'Hearts and Flowers'. As you can see, the bear is holding a brown plant pot full of flowers and leaves. The flowers are actually a pink shade in colour, but they look purple in the image. They shimmer in the light due to the lovely glitter effect on them, and I just think it is so simple yet lovely.
As stated previously, I have owned this figurine eight years now. As someone who does not actually collect figurines, this means I don't take particular care of them or put them away in a fancy display cabinet. This little Tatty Teddy is proudly displayed on my bedside table next to some photo frames and toiletries. I think he just adds a little bit of character to the room. He has not chipped at all over the whole time I have owned him. Unfortunately, one of the leaves in the pot has snapped off a little bit, but this was due to me dropping the figurine accidentally. But as far as quality goes, this really is fantastic and would be great to add to a collectors range of figurines.
Although I treated myself to this when I was younger, I think this would also make a fantastic gift. It would be great to give for birthdays, Valentines days and I think it is quite suitable for a whole range of ages. Some of the figurines are designed for teenagers, but I think this would be nice to give to anyone as it is a lovely gesture. It is also good for those who collect the Me to You range.
Overall, I really love this little figurine. I think it is lovely to add a bit of character to the room, and the quality and detailing on the bear is just fantastic. I could not fault it, and it has lasted me well over the years. The only reason I will be knocking off one star is because it is so hard to get hold of now as it has been retired for the past seven years. Thanks for reading.
