I have had this item for many months now and I find it a very useful product. It clips easily to the book you are reading and emits a bright white light onto the page - and rather usefully not onto the person trying to sleep next to you.
It is lightweight and has a conveniently flexible neck which allows for maximum adjustment of the light onto your book. Sometimes if I am lying down in bed I will clip it to the blanket rather than the book and adjust the light accordingly. The clip itself opens quite wide. It is also economical to use as I have only had to change the batteries once in the time I have had it. It is LED which means it is going to be quite durable and long lasting. It takes 3 AAA batteries. According to the Amazon website description of this product the LED lasts for 100,000 hours. The light is operated by a sliding on/off button on the head.
The Mighty Bright Xtraflex LED Book Light comes in several colours and is well designed and trendy looking. I have the silver version and my eldest liked it so much she bought one herself - only in blue to match her bedroom. Also comes in pink, green and purple. It is great for reading books under the covers - and provides an incentive for my kids to do some night time reading instead of watching the television.
As it is so small and portable it was no hassle to slip it into the luggage when we went camping recently. It was a real bonus being able to read my book in bed al fresco.
Currently (12/07/13) this product is £9.37 on Amazon. Good value in my opinion.
Would recommend this product.
Mt mum is a massive reader (so am I ) but can sometimes have difficulty reading in low level lighting, mainly when reading before bed. I decided to buy her the XtraFlex SUPER L.E.D light with the hope that I may make reading slightly easier. After seeing how much use she got from it I decided to buy myself one as my bed side lamp gives off terrible levels of light (thanks energy saving light bulbs) and I often find my eyes hurting after reading for a fairly short period of time.
The product comes well packaged and fully protected so no need to worry about it getting damaged in transit. The light itself has a fairly large base with a long neck. The neck is made of that fully flexible material which allows the light to be turned, twisted and screwed into almost any position (and stay there) which is perfect for a reading light. I would say the neck when fully stretched out would be around 20-25cm, again the ideal size. Whilst the base is fairly large it allows the light to be powered from 3 AAA batteries. This is another massive benefit of the product. Whilst smaller lights are available they require watch type batteries to power them. With the XtraFlex batteries can be replaced easily and cheaply (although they have not had to be changed just yet). The base can be clipped to the book or placed on the side, depending on your reading angle. The light does not weigh much, even with 3 batteries, but needs a decent amount of book to clip onto.
The light can be picked up for under £10, which seems pretty average for the type of product.
The light itself is amazingly bright for such a small little thing, but that is expected with LED lighting. It certainly helps with night time reading. However despite the fact that the light works perfectly I rarely find myself using it. I cannot say why exactly but after a few uses I just got fed up with it and it has taken residence at the back of my drawer.
The light could be used for other uses I suppose, if you tinker with small gadgets that needs light in small spaces, music reading light or even night fisherman I suppose, but for me its probably never going to be used again.
I am an avid reader and often read in low light. It is well known that reading with too little light is actually very bad for your eyes, so I finally went to purchase a reading light. After a few cheap lights from 1 pound I use now with pleasure, my Mighty Bright Reading Lamp.
My Mighty Bright is entirely in black, but is available in different colours such as silver, pink and blue. The size is somewhat difficult to describe, but when fully extended, he is about 30 cm long. The neck is very flexible and can rotate in all directions.
The widest part is the base and is 4 cm wide. In the base are the 3 AAA batteries, which according to the specifications, gives you 32 hours reading pleasure. The last time I've had them replaced in November and then I read at least 1 hour per day with a light.
Despite the three batteries its feel further light and not heavy. The foot is wide enough for him to put down on a stable surface like a table. Also you can attach it to the cover of a book or in my case, the cover of my ebook.
The lights are LED and there are 2 lights in which can operate separately. As I said before, I use this light especially when I want to read and not enough light at my disposal. I read mostly with my Kindle e-reader in a case sitting. The front can be folded all the way back which I then snap on the light bulb (squeeze). The result is that you have space between the cover and the back of the book. This allows you ereader less easily hold in 1 hand. With a normal book, you will have less problems here because you often with 2 hands holding the cover and which you usually will not completely turn over.
The light has a flexible neck which you can put in almost all directions. The material is solid in such a way that the lamp is, therefore, remains in this position and does not rotate back. Because the neck is long I can create good distance between the lights and the ereader. The big advantage is that you can distribute light more evenly over your page and you have virtually no shade. The light from the LEDs is pretty bright. Mostly I use only 1 light and that is enough for me.
The light does everything what it should do and I'm very satisfied. The battery last a long time and the light is bright enough. You can buy the light for around 10 pounds. Five stars.
