Our little downstairs toilet room has turned into a mini library. I know what you're thinking ... the whole reading on the toilet joke! Nothing in there gets read. When we moved in there was a shelf under the little vent window and another shelf high up on the side wall so we thought we'd put some beach shells the kids have collected over the years on the window one and some of our loved but no longer read books on the high up one. To go along with our little toilet library I got a photo copy of a map of our village, tea painted it and then put it into a nice French vintage style frame. A few small pictures that had not other homes but I felt deserved to be on a wall have found home in this room. It's all been put together nicely so it doesn't look like a dumping ground. The toilet roll holder and towel rail are the ones that came with the house and they are cheap ones. Every time you take some loo roll the whole things comes crashing to the ground and the towel rail leaves rust marks on my towels.
It was time to finally replace them with something more my style. When out one day with my husband we were browsing in Next and saw their bathroom accessories. One set is like cracked glass with sparkles (silver sparkle collection) and they looked really lovely and fun. I fell in love but as it was quite far from pay day I had to just make a mental note and schedule a later return.
When I finally went back to Next my son was dragging me around the boys room collection so it took me a while to get to the bathroom stuff but when I did I saw the Hoxton collection. This set looked like it was made to go in our bathroom. The toilet roll holder and towel ring were the same price as the sparkle one I had been looking at before (£12 each). I knew they were much more suited and bought them. I couldn't see a light pull for this set but the one we have is perfectly ok and in the same egg shell kind of colour.
I got the bits home and set to work taking the old ones down. The new set was the same size as the old ones so wall marks are all covered up. The Hoxton set comes with wall fixtures but the nails were slightly longer than the previous ones and I didn't want to mess around putting new wall plugs in so I used the old nails instead. It was all very easy to put up and looks lovely. I hadn't realized till later but they almost match our taps as well. Bonus!
There are other bits in the Hoxton range but I think they will better suit someone accessorizing a bigger bathroom.
