ABOUT: The pens I am reviewing are called Ink Joy and come in a range of bright colours. Paper Mate wanted to develop a revolutionary ink system that would give the best effortless writing. They wanted to design a pen that starts quickly without dragging, requires minimal pressure from your hand and delivers crisp, clean line every time. They also wanted to bring the joy back into writing which is why they named the pens Ink Joy.
The pen has a transparent tinted body for a refreshing look which matches the colour of the ink. Each pen has a rubberised grip for optimal comfort when writing. The colour-tinted body is modern and stylish, whilst the metal clip provides long-lasting durability. On the coloured barrel of the pen it states what brand of pen it if and it also states that it's part of the Ink Joy range. There is a click button on the top of the pen which you press down so the nib to the pen comes out. You simply click it again and the pen nib will go back in to protect it from drying out.
PRICE: Prices may vary in different stores but a pack of 4 pens cost me £4.99 from my local WhSmith store.
IN USE: When using the pen for the first time it may take a little while for the ink to start flowing. There is what looks like a piece of glue or something protecting the nib which comes off when using it for the first time. I suspect this is to stop the ink from drying out whilst it's in its packaging or not in use. I love the fact that the whole of the pen was brightly coloured and was eye catching.
The rubber grip on the pen meant it was easy to grip and hold when writing. The pen was extremely smooth and so easy to write with. The ink flowed out of the pen easily without having to apply too much pressure on the actual pen itself. I was a little worried that the Lime colour wouldn't show very well on paper, how-ever it showed up just as well as the other colours and looked great to use when writing special facts/information for my course that I needed to remember.
I also used the pen to highlight and write certain words in sentences so I could remember and learn them. Not only are the pens comfortable and easy to write with but I found that the ink dries quickly as well, which avoids smudges on the paper.
OVERALL:Pens that are a joy to use.
Some use a biro, some use a fountain pen, others use pencil, I chose to the Papermate Pro-Fit Rollerball Retractable Pen. It comes in three colours (Red, Blue and Black) to suit all needs and is manufactured by Papermate.
I bought these from the Poundland shop as I was in need of some new pens and when I saw a 6 pack of these for £1 I bought them straight away. I had heard of the Papermate brand before so I knew I must be buying a quality item. They came on a card backing that contained all the information about the pens along with the company details.
Each pen is 15cm long and is made of a coloured plastic. The colour of the pen depends on the ink colour. On the side it says "Papermate Pro Fit" in white and then at the bottom there is a white silicon like hand grip that extends for 5cm up the pen. The pen operates by a simple push flick on the top that pushes the nib in and out of the casing. The plastic casing is very solid and hardly flexes if you try and bend it.
I find the pen exceptionally comfortable to write with as it seems to of been produced so it is ergonomically comfortable. The silicon hand grip is an excellent feature that makes using the pen very comfortable for long periods of time. I use this pen for a few hours daily in lectures and I don't get any discomfort from it. The rollerball works very well in dispensing a fine and accurate line of ink onto the paper. I find that they can dry up a bit if I don't use one for a while, but it can soon be sorted by drawing on paper to get the ink to flow again. Each pen lasts quite a while as I am only on my second one since November.
These pens offer a comfortable writing experience whilst delivering sharp and neat lines too. For the price I paid, I can't complain with anything about them. For these reasons I will have to give these pens 5/5.
