Past Times Occasions Embroidered Keepsake Box

Advantages: Very pretty and well made

Disadvantages: A bit expensive at full price

When I started planning my wedding last year my Mum bought me a keepsake box. I was pleased but a little surprised because I thought at the time what on earth will I put in it. How wrong I was! I have loved planning the wedding along with Mark my fiancé and of course my Mum and I found I couldn't bear to throw anything away. Every letter, e mail, receipt, samples of ribbons and material has gone in my keepsake box.

The box came from our local branch of Past Times. Its called the Occasions Keepsake Box and cost £22.00. Personally I think this is a little bit steep but Past times have has a 50% sale on since it opened so Mum only paid £11.00 which is a more reasonable price for this. My design is slightly different to the one in the picture Dooyoo are showing.

The box measurements are 9.5 inches x 1 inches and it is 3 inches deep. The keepsake box is made from strong card and is very sturdy. Its covered inside and out with a lovely ivory silk material. Its very well made and finished off beautifully. There are no nasty edges or any glue showing at all. It has a simple lift up lid which is attached to the base with a piece of ivory ribbon. This again is attached very neatly to the material with no glue or stitches showing. The box fastens with wide ivory ribbon which you simply tie in a bow.

The lid of the box is padded giving it a slightly rounded appearance. The lid is embroidered with a pretty leaf and flower design. All the stitching is very tiny and neat and is done in an ivory silky looking thread. There are 7 embroidered leaves all outlined with tiny little pearls and also 6 flowers, these look like rose heads to me, and these are also detailed with lots of tiny little pearls. Once again all the bead work is extremely neat. The lid also has 6 flowers and 5 leaves which are made of clear crystals, these are obviously stuck on but as with the rest of the box none of the glue shows. The crystals are all out lined in the same ivory thread as the rest of the embroidery.

This is a gorgeous keepsake box. You could use it for anything really but in my opinion the pearls, crystals and the ivory colour do give it a real wedding feel. It would make any bride to be a lovely gift. I'm surprised Past Times haven't done a white version of this for those who have a white wedding planned rather than ivory.

I would recommend the Occasions keepsake box, its very well made and will keep all your treasures, what ever they are, safe. Its available from Past Times or www.pasttimes.com.

Summary: It makes a lovely gift
