I love doormats that have interesting and inspirational quotes on but I have never found one that means anything to me. When I saw that you can make your own personalised doormats, I really wanted one and I was pretty excited. Discussing it with the man of the house, we decided that we wanted it to say, "Veni, Vidi , Vici." We are both history buffs and enjoy having a bit of culture about the home. This latin quote was written by Julius Caesar after a short war with Zela. I think it's a great little quote and it is certainly one you could not buy yourself.

The doormat comes in various sizes and range from £30.00 for a medium one to £40.00 for a large one. You can buy them online from Amazon Marketplace where you submit your words and they print it and post it out to.
I bought the large version which measures 90cm by 60 cm. The mat is actually much better quality than I imagined it would be. The mat is thick and made from thick coarse cord. The lettering is thick bold and black and quite large, it takes up around a ¼ of the mat. You can have up to 28 characters on the mat and the more you have the smaller the lettering will be.
I really love my doormat and surprisingly it is really good quality. Overtime, the lettering has faded a little bit as people obviously use it to wipe their feet on. The lettering is slightly greyer but it is readable and still looks good. The sides of the matt have flattened and look a little bit frayed in some places as the cat likes to scratch it too but overall it is still in great condition.
I think that having something different and personal is important in the home and although a doormat is an insignificant thing, it is the first thing you see when you walk through the door. Let people know something about you and add a little bit of style to your hallway!
This would make a great Christmas present for those who are starting to shop or even a housewarming gift when a new couple get their first home, "Welcome to Rita and Bob's" for example! Be creative.
