Perhaps I was harsh for the price, but there are better 5-port scart hubs around.

There are a lot of tv's than come with 2 or 3 scart ports. Often, some come with just a single port - there are many different players and recorders we wish to attach to our tv nowadays and the number of machines is constantly expanding. This is where the Phillips Magnavox 5-port scart hub comes in handy. Basically it takes up one scart socket on the back of your tv and then gives you the ability to plug 5 appliances into your tv through this single port! Working in very much the same way as a multi-gang plug socket expander it allows you to run many more devices through your tv than before.

I am unaware of any downside to this product, but I would say that you are best to use up the scart sockets on the back of your tv before considering one of these. Perhaps picture/sound quality is compromised but I couldn't be certain that it does so I won't make such statement. Being a Phillips product you would expect a high level of quality and attention to detail but this just isn't clear to see with this product. Unfortunately ergonomics and material quality have been forgotten in favour of unit price. At around £6 these hubs are very reasonably priced, but they are by no means built to last.

I am sure you will do your own research, but, although this is a Phillips product a quick browse online has given me the impression it would be easy to purchase a better looking, cheaper and higher quality 5-port scart adaptor for your television. I do feel a little let down by Phillips because they are such a well regarded brand, but i wouldn't be put off from buying their electrical goods in future - just look elsewhere for a scart dock!

After a while you will notice that if you change the scarts around a lot in the dock the ports will soon show signs of wear and become unreliable, difficult to slot into and eventually they won't recognise scart leads any longer.
