“ Brand: Playful / Misc House Type: Party Supplies „
I bought these Playful Pumpkin Luncheon Plates in Poundland for my granddaughters' Halloween party, they came in packs of fifteen and were shrink wrapped in a simple cellophane with just a sticker giving the name of the product. I bought two packs as the plates are a good size and I thought I could serve some of the buffet food on them, as well as given them out for the children to use. I had deliberated long and hard about what paper plates to buy for the party as I wanted them to fit with the spooky Halloween decorations and activities I had planned, yet I was trying to match them to the interests of children ranging in age from 16 months to 14 years. I had found some wonderful Halloween Dora plates, but while the younger children would have loved them I think the older ones would have felt patronised. Likewise the Freddy Krueger ones I was eyeing up would have been perfect for the teenagers but certainly would have given the babies nightmares! The appearance of the Playful Pumpkin is perfect for any age though, it's a cartoon pumpkin which is retro enough to appeal to the older ones but looks fun for the younger kids too. I think they look great considering how cheap they are and really looked the part on the buffet table covered in special Halloween biscuits. The plates are quite sturdy but I was disappointed however to find they are much thinner than they looked while stacked and I wouldn't have trusted them to hold anything too heavy. I had a few spare so doubled the younger children's plates up to make them that little bit stronger. The edges seemed a little bit thicker than the body of the plate which made them easy to hold and they have the usual ribbed edging which helps little hands to keep a firm grip on their plate of goodies. The plates bent worryingly across the middle though and my greedy but clever cat sat eagerly watching my baby granddaughter as her plate looked the most likely to collapse! None of them did though, to my satisfaction and my cats annoyance. The measurements of the plates were not on the wrapper, and I have none left now to measure but as a guide I can tell you they'll hold a full uncut sandwich with room for biscuits and cheese straws too. Hopefully that helps, but they are just normal paper plate sized and perfect for this kind of nibbles buffet.
