Disadvantages: Not sticky forever
I am usually a ridiculously organised person. With having to juggle university work and my blog I need to have a really good system in place so I know what I have to do and when it has to be done for. I tried using calenders on my laptop etc but the thing that never fails is post it notes. I am very much a list person when it comes to organising my time and I find that having a typed list just does not work as well as a handwritten one.
The Post It Note was developed and designed by a few different people and hit the US market in 1980, making the brand only 31 years old! I think that this product is a must for any office space or for anyone who has a lot to do (like me) all of the time. Post It notes used to come in a very basic, yellow square pad but now, you can get them in all kinds of shapes and sizes and for different prices depending on what it is you need them for or depending on your own personal design preference.
If you do happen to live in a cave and don't know what this product is, it is a pad of paper with one sticky edge on each sheet, held together by that adhesive. As you rip one sheet of paper off the pad you will be able to feel the adhesive underneath one of the edges and a slight residue of this is left on the sheet underneath. Once you have ripped off one of the pieces of paper, you are then able to stick it to any (usually flat) surface. I do find that if you try to stick the paper to something uneven then the adhesive never lasts very long and the paper falls off quite quickly.
The thing about Post It Notes is that they last a hell of a long time. I have pads of them hiding all over the place and some of them I probably bought a few years ago but I find that after ripping off the top piece of paper, the adhesive is still fine and I can use them like I normally would. Unless you buy a massive pad of these though, they are quite easy to misplace which is probably the reason why I end up finding them all over and forgetting I had put them there in the first place.
My main reason for using these notes now is to organise what I do on my blog. I generally stick a note on top of each book that I get for review with the release date written on so that I know when I should be reviewing/ reading it. I also use them when hosting a giveaway or I am sending books to someone else as they are really useful for writing addresses on so that I don't forget who I am sending to and what I am sending to each person. I'm sure that without this system, I would easily get books mixed up and send someone the wrong thing.
The average Post It Note comes in a square pad that isn't really that large in size so you can't really put too much information on them. However, you can also buy large pads in a rectangle shape which are a bit better for what I use them for. I do also like to buy the little bookmark type notes for my university books so that I can mark chapters in books that I need to read without having to bend the book. This also makes it really easy to turn to the right pages quickly.
I can't actually remember the last time that I have not had any of these in my house. I always find reasons to use them and generally, they make my life a whole lot easier and I wouldn't be without them now!
Summary: I love them!
