Advantages: Simple to use and effective. Adhesive. Don't leave a mark.
Disadvantages: Temporarily adhesive.
We use Post It Notes at work all the time and they're are really useful for sticking temporary notes on paper or even on the wall to remind you of things or note something. There are different sizes, but we tend to use the standard square size which is 76mm x 76mm - but there loads of different sizes depending on what suit your needs. A packet of the 3M Post It Notes that are 76mm x 76mm and contain 100 of the Post It Notes and it costs £1.79 each - which equates to 1.7p per sheet - which is cheap, but not as cheap as I'd thought it be when I broke it down!
The sheets are all made of paper and come in a variety of colours, most of which are neon, such as neon pink or yellow. We tend to use the neon yellow the most as the writing tends to stand out the most on it. On the back of each Post-It Note there is a thin strip of adhesive which attaches it to the note below it until peeled off - and then you can use this adhesive strip to attached it to a piece of paper - or wall, or whatever you're sticking in on to. It does attach to all hard dry surfaces that I've ever tried - but the sticking is temporary and it won't stay stuck forever. If the environment is particularly warm I would say that it stays stuck for a few weeks and then starts to peel off. When you want to remove the Post It Note then you just peel it off and it doesn't leave a mark underneath.
Overall, I find Post It Notes to be really useful and we use them regularly.
