Advantages: cheap, protect fragile items in the post
Disadvantages: paper bit thin when writing address, seal not 100% secure for me
Like many other DooYooers, making a bit of extra cash comes in handy for us, and I am often selling things on eBay to make some £££'s on the side! I am often selling dresses that don't fit any more, Music CD's, DVDs my daughter no longer has an interest in etc and even a few makeup items that I may have received as a gift that I do not want. Padded envelopes are an absolute lifesaver for this and of course to keep postage and packaging costs low I buy this pack from poundland (although I have seen a practically identical version in the 99p store!)
For a mere £1 you get 6 envelopes, pretty similar to the concept of a jiffy bag whereby the lining inside is complete with bubble wrap - to make it secure for posting fragile items so they don't get damaged when the postman shoves it casually through your letterbox lol. The outer aspect of the envelope is a thin brownish paper type but I would say this is quite thin as if I press too hard when writing the address details on the front with my pen it can sometimes pierce through this paper looking very unprofessional indeed. To combat this, I tend to type the address on the computer at work and print it off so it looks clear and coherent (my handwriting can be a bit iffy sometimes lol) so this looks more presentable in any case.
To seal the envelopes there is a strip which is removed to seal it shut without any need for licking and sticking if you catch my drift. However, I am never trustworthy of this so as extra security I tend to always sellotape it closed just for peace of mind as this "self-adhesive" strip does not feel particularly strong in my opinion.
Overall, 6 padded envelopes for £1 is great value and has saved my bacon on many an occasion! Normally if I receive a package, I will always keep the jiffy bag and recycle it so post out a new item to someone else by just using brown tape to re-close it and of course removing/sticking over my address. Where I run out of these I turn to these poundland envelopes as they do the job just as well and are pretty darn cheap so no complaints!
Summary: still decent padded envelope - great alternative to the more pricey jiffy bag!
