Poundland Padded Envelopes
Advantages: Good enough quality, cheap
Disadvantages: Can get cheaper if you buy 100 off EBay
I sell a lot of things on EBay - hand knitted baby hats and Body Shop toiletries mostly - and so I get through a lot of padded envelopes. I usually buy them in bulk via EBay but sometimes I need a size that I have run out of - it is then that I head to Poundland.
They sell packs of padded envelopes - seven small, five medium or three large - for just one pound per pack. I bet you didn't guess what price I was going to say did you? LOL! These work out at 14.28p, 20p and 33.3p per envelope which is cheaper than the Post Office or W H Smiths but, if you do use a lot of them, you would be better buying a box of 100 from EBay as they work out cheaper per envelope.
They come wrapped in a clear plastic cover with a sheet of paper inside telling you the size and quantity of the envelopes inside. So no money wasted on packaging then - I like it so far!
The envelopes themselves are plain brown with a plastic bubble interior to give the contents a bit of protection during the journey through the postal system. The surface of the envelope is nice to write on so that I can write the address clearly and stamps and any other stickers do stick firmly to the surface.
The envelopes are sealed by tearing off a strip of plastic to reveal a sticky strip beneath which, when pressed down, adheres the flap to the envelope thus sealing it. Although the seal is strong I do always put a piece of Sellotape or parcel tape across it as well just to be in the safe side.
I find that it I put a baby hat wrapped in tissue paper in one of these envelopes and make sure that it is nice and flat it can be posted as a large letter rather than a packet which saves my customers almost £2 in postage.
I also found them strong enough to post Body Butters or Body Scrubs without any trouble.
All in all I would definitely recommend these envelopes if you only need a few a time but just remember there are economies of scale out there if you use a lot of padded envelopes.
Summary: Well worth a try!
