Poundland Padded Envelopes
Advantages: cheap, seals well
Disadvantages: they don't seal all the way across, so i think things could possibly fall out if they were small
I don't normally bother buying padded envelopes, given that ordinary envelopes are typically all I need to send something like a letter to someone, but this Christmas I wanted to send a few presents to friends that live a couple of hundred miles away. They weren't large presents, just a book, a few packets of seeds for a gardening fanatic and a scarf. And of course, additional bits and pieces like a card or a gift voucher for other members of the family.
Given that these were only £1 I decided that I would give them a go. I bought them in two of the three sizes they are available in, large and medium. I found that in the packets, there were 5 medium sized ones and 3 large which I didn't think was too bad. It just so happened there was 8 packages I needed to send, and this worked out perfectly for me.
I found that the medium sized envelopes were perfectly sized for putting in a few cards and gift cards wrapped up. I could probably have fitted a smaller sort of present in there as well, but I didn't think this would have been fair to send a present to one or two people in a household and not the others, so they all got gift cards instead which worked out well, and meant that the package wasn't too thick to post, yet they were cushioned by the bubble wrap so the giftcards didn't get bent or scratched during transportation. We all know the Royal Mail can leave a bit to be desired sometimes, after all.
In order to seal the envelopes, you just had to remove a line of paper on the flap of the envelope beneath which was a strip of glue. Pressing this to the main body of the envelope created a secure seal, although I think if you were mailing something smaller, it might slip through the gaps in the seal, even if these were only very small.
I had no complaints from anyone that I sent these to, and I think that shows that they were fairly decent at least. Overall, I would say that they were very good. I would definitely buy these again!
Summary: Pretty good products over all!
