Advantages: Cheap, great quality, efficient

Disadvantages: None

As a college student it is necessary that I have plenty of pads and excess paper about in case I need to write notes in my lessons, or complete work for revision. When I was younger my Mum always bought stationary and pads from WHSmiths because we'd always assumed more money meant more quality. So at first I stopped by my local Smiths and was appalled to realise a simple 200 page refill pad (own brand I might add!) costs £4.29. There was no way I was paying that regardless of whether I was in need of paper or not, so I visited Rymans instead, as it is known for its low prices.

They have a selection of refill pads, ranging in price from £0.99 to about £4.00, with varying prices for packs of 5 and 6, which are great bargains. I bought three refill pads each for about £1.50 each which could have been a back to school sale which is typical of that time, but knowing Rymans this could easily be the norm.

The pad consists of 200 A4 sized pages. They are narrow ruled which is excellent for students like myself as it provides space to fill in any additional notes, as well as room for teachers to add any markings about your work.

The pad is glue bound like pretty much all pads these days, but I found it to be one of very few brands that when you turn the page, the page you were just working on doesn't simply fall out and un-attach itself from the pack. This is excellent because it means that you can easily keep all of your work together if you don't have a folder, which for a cheapskate like me who doesn't necessarily want to purchase expensive folders which can cost as much as £4 is a great addition.

The pages aren't necessarily thick, but writing with a biro doesn't appear through the opposite side of the page which is useful as it means you get the most of each page. Marker pens are a little different, but they still aren't dark enough through the other side that written work cannot be read.

Overall this is an excellent product I would definitely recommend, it has really taught me that money doesn't always mean quality and shopping around can really be useful even for something as simple as a pad.

Summary: A great value refill pad
